Ruth won 15,000 soles after answering deeply personal and humiliating questions in front of her parents, her boyfriend, a studio audience, and eventually the entire country. Weeks later, she disappeared. Her body was later found buried in a well, covered with rocks and concrete, on land connected to her boyfriend’s uncle. Her boyfriend, Bryan Romero Leiva, confessed, but the court later found most of his confession was false. Bryan and his uncle Redy Leiva were eventually sentenced to life in prison. But this case is bigger than one murder.
