Keith Stroup is one of the original founders of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) which is the leading advocacy group in the world for cannabis reform and legalization. Stroup graduated law school in 1968 at the height of the Vietnam War and of the anti war movement. Like many of his generation, he was doing everything possible to try to find a way to stay out of that war because too many of his contemporaries were coming home in body bags and he did not want to think about that fate. So, in 1968 a group called the National Lawyers Guild, which is still around and is a good group of radical lefty lawyers, were making themselves available at the time to provide advice to people who wanted to try to avoid the draft draft dodgers. They actually reached out and offered Stroup a number of things. First, they offered to put him in touch with some psychiatrists in Baltimore who would say he was gay and back then if you were gay, it wasn’t a matter of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’, the army or the military just simply didn’t want you. “Wow. I thought that was a kind of an intriguing possibility, but I was married at the time and had a small child and my wife wasn’t terribly comfortable with that.” They also offered to put Stroup in touch with some people in Canada if he wanted to leave the country which was something a lot of anti-war people were doing. Canada was putting out the welcome mat, but the problem is there was no guarantee they would ever be allowed back into the country and although Stroup certainly opposed the war in Vietnam, he wasn’t necessarily a spot in life where he was willing to say, “I never want to live in the US again.” So, finally, the third option they came up with, was a deferment based on critical skills called the critical skills deferment and it was the provision in the draft act that said if the work that you were doing on the home front was important enough, then your draft board could give you a waiver from serving in the military and instead of that, you served those same two years at the domestic job you had, which in theory was important because the health, safety and welfare of the country. Ironically, Stroup had just been offered a job by a commission called the National Commission on Product Safety, with Ralph Nader. It was a presidential commission, it sounded important and my draft board gave Stroup a deferment about two weeks before his report date! Stroup had started smoking marijuana while a freshman at Georgetown law school. So by the time the commission was over 1970, he had been smoking for about five years. At that point he was too old to be drafted and so for the first time Stroup describes having a choice to do sort of what HE wanted and decided he wanted to do public interest law, but the issue he wanted to work on was legalizing marijuana. So in late 1970, along with some friends that that he knew had a similar interest, he sat down and began to put together the outline for normal. “I think we actually filed the corporate papers in early March of 1971, but we began to meet as a board of directors in October of 1970,’ says Stroup. What was NORML’s first order of business? When NORML first started, the challenge really was to let people know that there was a lobby for marijuana smokers. There had been some people working on marijuana legalization even before normal, but not many. “NORML would go to events and we’d have a booth or an exhibit or whatever. And mainly again,

In this episode we explore many really exciting topics that can help you in your everyday life. Specifically, we discuss a current hot topic in the health and wellness space, called biohacking. Hacking computers, hacking smartphones, hacking email, but hacking your body? Hacking your life? At first, it sounds like something out of a science fiction novel, but biohacking is simply a concept for self-improvement. There are a number of ways you can start to incorporate methods of biohacking into your daily routine. We will discuss some of those ideas here today on our show. Not only will we discuss biohacking, but specifically biohacking performance enhancement and how can cannabinoids and cannabis terpenes be used. To shed light on this topic, we have Curt Robbins, who is an expert in cannabis, science and health. Curt focuses on compliance documentation for the cannabis industry, a role in which he develops applications for permits/licenses, business plans, and operational plans. This includes artifacts such as standard operating procedures, inventory control plans, security plans, and master manufacturing protocols. Robbins has completed more than 130 cannabis license applications to date. One hundred of these were for outdoor cultivation in Humboldt County, prior to the initial December 31, 2016 deadline. His work in the field of cannabis has primarily been done in California. Honored to be included in the October issue of Papers from the brilliant business minds at @bofc_canada. This brainy think tank has a bright future in the burgeoning legal cannabis market! pic.twitter.com/Ml5FD3WJUa— Curt Robbins (@RobbinsGroupLLC) November 18, 2018 At the municipal level, he has developed applications for Lynwood, Costa Mesa, Cathedral City, Eureka, and Santa Ana (which are all in California). However, at the state level, he has worked on or led teams for application development for licenses in Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and California. These applications have been in the industry segments of manufacturing/processing, cultivation, distribution, and retail/dispensing. Robbins has contributed more than 500 articles (regarding the science, business, and medical aspects and uses of cannabis) to magazines and media outlets such as High Times, CannaBiz Journal, MERRY JANE, The Emerald Magazine, MassRoots, WoahStork Learn, Grow Magazine, Herb.co, The Kind, Skunk, Cannabis Culture, Whaxy, Heads, Weed World, Green Flower Media, Cannabis Health Journal, Green Thumb, and Treating Yourself. He tweets on a regular basis from @RobbinsGroupLLC. Curt breaks down what biohacking is, reviews cannabinoids including both endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids. Did you even know there was a difference? We also get into terpenes, various terpene profiles and types, what they can be used for. We delve into business strategy and some politics, too! We also discuss the body’s natural version of THC, called Anandamide. Check out some of our other <a href="https://headynj.

NJ Weedman, Ed Forchion, was incarcerated over the last 16 months in Mercer County Correctional Facility. Some people may call him a political prisoner. Others may call him a revolutionary. Vice News recently dubbed him the Hero America Needs. But, one thing is certain – he is definitely one of the most infamous of medical and recreational cannabis advocates in New Jersey. Back in 2016, his Liberty Bell Temple was raided by police. They confiscated various controlled substances from the temple and surrounding property and the weed-mobile, was also confiscated and impounded. There was a confidential informant involved in that raid, so NJ Weedman found out who that was, put that information out publicly, and then he was arrested for witness tampering, which he of course fought, but ultimately he was locked up. Now that NJ Weedman is free, he’s been back in action protesting, being an advocate, running his Liberty Bell, serving food at his “Weedman’s Joint” and hosting events. During a recent political stunt, Ed set up at the NJ Statehouse and sold cannabis plants, weed in jars, and smoked pot, just a few weeks ago. Although his tactics may be inappropriate to some, others would argue that scenarios such as those as what he has orchestrated, have helped change the social climate on the issues of cannabis and incarceration. In this episode, we speak with Ed “NJ Weedman” Forchion and hear what he has to say about upcoming cannabis legalization, his plans to protest, and his thoughts on ‘Cannabaggers’, the rich corporations muscling their way to takeover the industry at the expense of the little guys – the people. #Sellweedlikeimwhite …..
