#22 Bov: How Dance Saved Me: From the Hitman and Her to Michael Jackson

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2380387/open_sms] When we began the podcast, we were excited to learn about Bov, a well respected, no nonsense, disciplined dance tutor at the top of his game. His hip hop and break dancing career spans from dancing with Jason Orange (pre Take That)  appearing on TV shows like the Hitman and Her, touring with artists such as Jocelyn Brown, Durga McBroom (Blue Pearl) , Beats International and to top it off being on tour with Michael Jackson. And of course, training artists such as George Sampson of BGT fame.  What transpired unexpectedly however was his actual story. One that deserves to be listened to. And heard. From the beginnings of rejection and into the oblivion of abhorrent social services practices of the 70s and 80s, somehow, SOMEHOW Bov found his tribe. And with that, hope. He went from there one dance at a time.  In Episode 22 of the Local Heroes Podcast, we sit down with Bov (Mark Aitcheson), a professional dancer, teacher, and extreme arts performer who has turned his turbulent past into a remarkable career. We are grateful to Bov who openly shared his deeply personal story, revealing how he overcame those challenges to find solace and purpose, achieved only by a disciplined work ethic. There are lessons for aspiring artists on what it takes to deal with rejection in a competitive entertainment industry - and the importance of role models.  Please note: This episode discusses sensitive topics.
