Ep. 28 Too Crazy To Be True Series: My Father Was A Fugitive

Your dad vanishes, the rumors turn into legend, and you spend decades wondering if he is dead, hiding, or living under a new name. Then your phone rings and everything flips. We sit down with Lisa Alexander, who grew up with a larger-than-life father known as Whitey, a man whose chaos shaped her childhood and whose absence left a crater of unanswered questions. About Lisa The story about my father Whitey Macdonald being a fugitive for over 30 years and what it was like for me, his daughter to wonder where he was all those years. Finally believing he was dead, and I would never know the truth. Then  on January 2011 I got that phone call that he was alive and arrested and it was a life-changing experience. Reconnecting with him after all those years the shock the pain, finally having that connection with my father that I had always hoped for. But time was sure because he was dying of stage four cancer. Spending those last three years with him getting to know him, him getting to know me. That closure that that little girl was always looking for.  Connect w/Lisa FACEBOOK [https://www.facebook.com/LisaShaneAlexander] EMAIL: la4malibu@gmail.com Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2100054/fan_mail/new] Host: Lisa [https://www.instagram.com/momismyemergencycontact/] Watch us on YouTube [https://www.youtube.com/@Momismyemergencycontact] Visit us at our website [https://www.momismyemergencycontact.com/] And FOLLOW us on Instagram  [https://www.instagram.com/momismyemergencycontact/] Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558475276035] TikTok [https://www.tiktok.com/@momismyemergencycontact] 🚨Send us your Too Crazy To Be True Story. episode Ep. 27 Money Tips For Single Moms cover

Ep. 27 Money Tips For Single Moms

Money hits different when you’re a single mom. There’s no backup account, no one to split the mental math with, and no margin for “I’ll deal with it later.” If you’ve ever avoided your bank app because it felt like a hundred tiny steps, or found yourself impulse-buying at the end of a brutal day, this conversation is for you. We sit down with Sherry Andrew of Money Mindset Financial Coaching and get real about relationships and divorce finances. Sherry explains the biggest mistake many women make by not being involved in household money, what financial independence can actually look like (even when you share a life with someone), and why having your own decision-making power can be protective and freeing. Then we move into practical, ADHD-friendly strategies like payday automation, separating spending money from bill money, and prioritizing essentials first when you’re rebuilding. Key Topics * Know Your Income and Expenses: Knowing where your money comes from and where it goes is the first step toward effective budgeting. * Finances Pre and Post divorce: Strategizing for the future is key. * Automation and scheduling apps to pay bills is one way to keep off your plate as a busy mom. About Sherry After being fired from a nearly 17-year career, Sherry took a leap of faith to pursue her passion for personal finance and launched Money Mindset Financial Coaching in 2018. After her job loss, she discovered her love for personal finance by learning everything she could to improve her household finances. Now, she helps others make significant shifts with their money. After learning that she has ADHD, she pivoted her business focus to assist individuals and entrepreneurs with ADHD in gaining confidence and clarity with their finances by building and implementing systems that simplify their lives. She enjoys working with ADHD entrepreneurs because the added complexity of self-employment presents extra challenges, while also providing greater opportunities for increased income! Her clients save, pay off debt, and achieve their financial goals while still living their lives! She believes that the path to your financial goals doesn’t include a restrictive budget, but comes by focusing on what is important to you and building systems that align with how your brain works! She is an Accredited Financial Counsellor Canada® and a Certified Professional Financial Coach™ who helps clients feel confident about managing their money. episode Ep. 26 Single Mom, Real Talk cover

Ep. 26 Single Mom, Real Talk

Someone tells a single mom to “just relax” and it sounds harmless, until you’ve lived the day she’s living. I sit down with Veronica, a California single mother raising a 15-year-old and the host of Stop Telling Me to Relax, to name what actually sits on our plates: the schedules, the bills, the loneliness, the identity shifts, and the pressure to look fine while we’re doing the work of two people. Key Topics * The emotional and financial chaos of single motherhood * Balancing boundaries, self-care, and identity * Navigating dating and relationships as a single mom * The importance of community and support networks * Challenging societal stigmas around single motherhood About Veronica Veronica Welch is California native, born & raised in the SF Bay Area. She is a single mother to a 15 year old son. She is the host of a podcast titled 'STOP. Telling Me to Relax: For  Single Moms Who Don't Have Time to Chill.' A platform that she created for a space for single mothers to share their life experiences raising children alone.  Connect w/Veronica INSTAGRAM [https://www.instagram.com/stoptellingmetorelax/] APPLE PODCAST [https://l.instagram.com/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fpodcasts.apple.com%2Fus%2Fpodcast%2Fstop-telling-me-to-relax-for-single-moms-who-dont-have%2Fid1802500790%3Futm_source%3Dig%26utm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_content%3Dlink_in_bio&e=AUCcbIgGCAeBDRGEJzzhTu-7sfT9p2Mo9PxoO5SiWU3oxfWOjeOHRRU5o2u_OdDVv9PhvIJie6qgYrx-n99ElSj6loVy8n7_CJwq3Dw94oZLSw_mMgMLWcCZ4XYgOlnOpnyZ-Lb396b3XPT2rHKjsSk] SPOTIFY PODCAST [https://l.instagram.com/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fopen.spotify.com%2Fshow%2F2JIRqNQREzQhzuFbkQPbrn%3Fsi%3D582e77e0fd784284%26utm_source%3Dig%26utm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_content%3Dlink_in_bio%26fbclid%3DPAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMjU2MjgxMDQwNTU4AAGnSG7GslwAGc77VSY0rbnscaOlbeKT9Yp86jLAYGiki_wcuiAvAz82tL2qlkA_aem_BYu0Z0vQyKyjNU7abHJF1Q&e=AUAMp1dLle3Jc6P6sr-JjCVW8_iSKzLwtjqNBRqAsD15vIkj1dhER-G90EGINdLO7F-jkBBHXF0XKRcLaIjBgYJmBjRkhFYGB7b211tVIX-TK715U63WXPXixg7VfhtfKAkAjqABLTk7ztb4zY9Wv80] TIKTOK YOUTUBE [http://www.youtube.com/@stop_telling_me_to_relax] Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2100054/fan_mail/new] Host: Lisa [https://www.instagram.com/momismyemergencycontact/] Watch us on YouTube [https://www.youtube.com/@Momismyemergencycontact] Visit us at our website [https://www.momismyemergencycontact.com/] And FOLLOW us on Instagram  [https://www.instagram.com/momismyemergencycontact/] Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558475276035] TikTok [https://www.tiktok.com/@momismyemergencycontact] 🚨Send us your Too Crazy To Be True Story. Ep. 25 We’re Accidentally Training Men How to Treat Us

You know that feeling when someone gives you just enough attention to keep you hooked, then disappears long enough to make you spiral? We’re not calling it fate, bad luck, or Mercury retrograde. We’re calling it behavior. I sit down with Paola Ortiz, a board certified behavior analyst and professor, to look at dating patterns through Applied Behavior Analysis and it gets uncomfortably clarifying, fast. Key Takeaways * Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a science that studies how behaviors are influenced by environmental factors. * ABA can help individuals recognize and change unhealthy dating patterns by understanding reinforcement and behavior dynamics. * How can I break unhealthy dating patterns? Start by recognizing your patterns, taking accountability for your choices, and seeking support to foster healthier relationships.  About Paola  Paola Ortiz is a board-certified behavior analyst, psychology professor, operational leader, and mom who is passionate about helping women design lives that actually work in the real world. Through her work and her podcast, EveryDay ABA, Paola makes behavior science practical and relatable, especially for women carrying the invisible mental load at work and at home. You can connect with her on Instagram @ProfessorPaola & listen to her podcast weekly on Tuesdays.  Connect w/Paola Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/professorpaola/] EveryDay ABA Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/everydayaba.3/] Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2100054/fan_mail/new] Host: Lisa [https://www.instagram.com/momismyemergencycontact/] Watch us on YouTube [https://www.youtube.com/@Momismyemergencycontact] Visit us at our website [https://www.momismyemergencycontact.com/] And FOLLOW us on Instagram  [https://www.instagram.com/momismyemergencycontact/] Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558475276035] TikTok [https://www.tiktok.com/@momismyemergencycontact] 🚨Send us your Too Crazy To Be True Story. episode Ep. 24 She Moved In With A Man And His Kids To Save Money......Would You? cover

Ep. 24 She Moved In With A Man And His Kids To Save Money......Would You?

She didn’t “manifest” her way out of this. She made a plan, took a second job, faced the numbers, and made a housing choice that sounded a little unhinged on purpose because survival sometimes is. Lisa, the creator behind thirtyfiveandfive, joins us to tell the full story of how her five-year plan became a lifeline when life felt off-track at 35. Key Takeaways * Setting clear goals is essential for personal growth and accountability.  * Vulnerability can foster community and support among individuals facing similar challenges. * It's crucial to adapt and adjust plans as life unfolds, recognizing that setbacks are part of the journey. About Lisa  Lisa is a now thirty-six year old woman who has navigated life's up and downs as a single woman. Most recently, she created an Instagram profile called Thirty Five and Five where she records her day-to-day life and progress in a five-year plan.
