Things are HEATING UP in the U.S. Senate this week. On this episode of the BASEDBrief, Hannah & Brad break down highlights from the first few days of the confirmation hearing for Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson. Then, they go through and debunk a really nasty smear lobbed against Judge Jackson by GOP Senator Josh Hawley. Next, they highlight the shocking disparity between the breathless coverage of Russia’s bloody invasion of Ukraine and near-zero public attention given to the US’s support for a brutal civilian war in Yemen that’s wrought even more bloodshed. Then, they round out the show on a light note by reacting to some cringe clips from the most popular “alpha male” podcasts cropping up in strange corners of the internet. Finally, they read some listener mail and a poem one listener wrote dedicated to BASEDPolitics. <3 <3 <3 Support the BASEDBrief on Locals: https://basedpolitics.locals.com/ [https://basedpolitics.locals.com/] <3 <3 <3 Read Quinn Driggs’ Great BASEDPolitics article on Yemen: https://www.based-politics.com/2022/03/19/war-in-yemen-us-supports-atrocities-just-like-russias-ukraine-invasion/ [https://www.based-politics.com/2022/03/19/war-in-yemen-us-supports-atrocities-just-like-russias-ukraine-invasion/] Follow Quin: https://www.instagram.com/quinnrdriggs/ [https://www.instagram.com/quinnrdriggs/] Check Out the WeAreLibertarians Podcast Network: https://wearelibertarians.com/ [https://wearelibertarians.com/] Andrew McCarthy for National Review: https://www.nationalreview.com/2022/03/senator-hawleys-disingenuous-attack-against-judge-jacksons-record-on-child-pornography/ [https://www.nationalreview.com/2022/03/senator-hawleys-disingenuous-attack-against-judge-jacksons-record-on-child-pornography/] Let us know what YOU think of this week’s episode by emailing us podcast@based-politics.com [podcast@based-politics.com]. Why the heck do we still change the clocks twice a year? Hannah & Brad discuss on the latest BASEDBrief. Then, they dig into the much-overlooked $1.5+ trillion spending legislation Congress just quietly passed, and the many scandals it contains. Next, they break down the many problems with Biden’s new plan to federally regulate cryptocurrency—and spill the tea on Hannah’s recent controversy with a socialist YouTuber known as “Vaush.” Finally, they read listener feedback about their discussion of a controversial Texas anti-trans law and offer up some hot takes about men and candy. Do Americans really want a ‘no-fly zone’ in Ukraine? That’s what many hawks are calling for, but on this episode of the BASEDBrief, Brad & Hannah explain why this minor-sounding measure is actually incredibly dangerous and could lead to outright war with Russia. Then, they walk through the many ways the anti-Russia backlash is getting hysterical, from banning Russian cats to harassing Russian restaurants to dumping out Russian vodka, and explain why this kind of stuff victimizes innocents and accomplishes nothing. Finally, Brad & Hannah have a nuanced conversation about a controversial new policy in Texas that labels medical transition for transgender youth “child abuse”—and threatens to take kids away from their parents. Is there merit to the underlying concerns about minors getting irreversible treatments? And does this GOP move go too far? The Ukrainian people are rising up and defending themselves from Russian invaders, with the government passing emergency gun rights authorization and even handing out military-style rifles. But is this too little too late? And what lessons does this offer for our Second Amendment rights here in the US? Hannah Cox & Brad Polumbo discuss on the latest episode of the BASEDBrief. Then, they analyze a hilarious (but disturbing) federal government advisory reminding people to mask up and social distance… if huddling in shelters hiding from incoming nukes. Yes, seriously. To wrap things up, Brad & Hannah do a deep-dive on the merits of Biden’s new Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson. Is she qualified? How radical is her ideology? And what’s the one big silver lining to her nomination? Let us know what YOU think of this week’s episode by emailing us podcast@based-politics.com [podcast@based-politics.com]. In the six years that I've been in politics full-time I've helped overturn the death penalty in three states, passed a school choice program, overturned an income tax, passed numerous workforce development and re-entry reforms in the criminal justice system, passed healthcare reforms like protections for direct primary care and the repeal of certificate of need laws, and overturned several occupational licenses. The number one question I get from my audience about all of this is "how"? I'm passionate about teaching others the tools they need to achieve large-scale political change. So on this month's episode of BASED, I'm taking a different approach. Instead of looking into a public policy, we're going to look at the ways you can impact those policies. Join me as I discuss my theory of change, and let's get to work.
