This podcast aims to take a deeper look at the racist and sexist history of gynecology and obstetrics in order to call for much needed overhaul of the still racist practices used today. These blaring issues are highlighted as to validate AFAB patients, particularly people of color, mistrust of the medical community. It is my hope that with this knowledge people are empowered and able to advocate for care that acknowledges and aims to correct the generational trauma caused by the racist history that we discuss. Savannah and Sahra are both medics at the Berkeley Free Clinic and are speaking from their training and work experience.
