Welcome to the Typism podcast. I’m your host Dominique Falla and I founded Typism in 2013 as a way to help my students, and creatives like you build a thriving community, share inspirational work, and create a sustainable business from your love of lettering. This podcast brings together some of the best lettering artists from around the world to share their creative journey with you. We go deep on topics related to the creative mindset, building your profile as a lettering artist, and the business of lettering. You can stay up-to-date on all the latest episodes by following us on Instagram @Typism.

Liane Barker is a specialist in gold leaf signage and traditional hand-painted signs. Her Brush and Pen studio is located in Queensland but she often travels the world teaching workshops. Liane taught a workshop at the last in-person Typism conference and blew everyone away with her teaching skills which is exactly why we asked her on to the Typism podcast to talk about developing your expertise and teaching what you know. https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-liane-barker [https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-liane-barker]

Wes Franklin is a lettering artist based in Bendigo in Victoria and known for his relaxed script lettering, and we got to know Wes because of his work in the last four Typism books. Wes has a focus on mural and logo work and likes to work with small businesses, non-profits and community groups. That’s exactly why we asked Wes on to the Typism podcast to talk about collaboration. Many lettering artists and freelancers work in isolation so it’s nice to see the effect working with others can have on our work. https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-wes-franklin [https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-wes-franklin]

Sophie Elinor is a graphic designer and typographer who uses letterforms to bring the written word to life. She is known for creating playful moving words with vibrant colour palettes. The decision to focus her practice in this way has paid off and she has recently started speaking at global conferences and presenting for Adobe on the topic of animated letterforms. That’s exactly why we asked Sophie on to the Typism podcast to talk about why it’s important to develop your authentic voice as a lettering artist. https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-sophie-elinor [https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-sophie-elinor]

Kell Sunshine is a lettering artist based in New Zealand and known for her gorgeous colour palettes and mural work. There's barely a town left in New Zealand without one of her gorgeous works gracing the walls. One of the gifts that Kelly gave me when she spoke at the Typis conference was a sticker that says stop being so busy. We asked Kell on to the Typism podcast to talk about a topic that lettering artists often struggle with, especially in this age of the internet and that's to stop wearing busyness as a badge of honour. https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-kell-sunshine [https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-kell-sunshine]

Maria spoke about her personal journey from graphic to textile designer, illustrator, calligrapher, typographer and lettering artist at the Typism conference. She’s incredibly versatile and deeply passionate about her work. No matter what twists and turns her career path has taken, it is always consistently high quality. We asked Maria on to the Typism podcast to talk about a topic that lettering artists often struggle with: the importance of finding your inner compass. https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-maria-montes [https://www.typismcommunity.com/blog/typism-podcast-maria-montes]
