Acerca de All His Church

All His Church is an ecumenical devotional podcast for ordinary Christians who want to actually follow Jesus in the real world—not just debate theology from a distance. Hosted by Chris in Atlanta, a non-clergy “regular dude” on a spiritual journey, the show blends Scripture (especially the Psalms), stories from everyday life, and honest wrestling with questions of faith, grace, works, and the narrow gate. Drawing from both Protestant and Catholic perspectives, All His Church invites listeners to move beyond minimum-effort religion into concrete acts of love, prayer, and repentance—one small, faithful step at a time. It’s a space for people who are somewhere along their own walk with Christ and want a companionable voice saying, “Let’s figure this out together before God.” walkindarknessnomore.substack.com

Day 23 - Many Rooms

Day 23 of All His Church begins with Psalm 62’s quiet confidence—“for God alone my soul waits in silence”—and moves into a deeply personal reflection on friendship, fear, and hope. Chris shares the stories of “Marc with a c” and “Mark with a k,” two lifelong friends he loves dearly and has been praying for ever since he sensed Jesus tell him they were his particular assignment for evangelization. From there, he names the shared Christian anguish over loved ones who don’t believe. Instead of offering easy answers, the episode leans into 1 Peter 1:3–5 and the language of hope from the Catechism and J. I. Packer to explore how Christian hope can stretch beyond our own salvation toward the salvation of our friends and family. This is a vulnerable, ecumenical meditation on praying for the people we love most, trusting that the Father’s house has many rooms—and that our small, faithful prayers and friendships might be part of how God fills them. Day 22: B to B+ Average

Day 22 of All His Church takes listeners into Psalm 130’s cry, “Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord,” and explores what it means to move beyond “3.7 GPA Christianity” in real life. Chris reflects on his own tendency to do just enough to get by—illustrated by a story from high school and a surprisingly convicting moment with a lawn mower and elderly neighbors next door. From there, he walks through the Catholic and Protestant understandings of faith and works, bringing James 2:14–26 into conversation with Jesus’ warnings about the narrow gate and narrow door. Rather than trying to solve the Reformation, the episode highlights the shared biblical call to a faith that actually does something. This episode invites listeners to move past minimum-effort religion and into daily, concrete acts of love—the “extra .3” of effort that no one may notice but God. It’s an honest, accessible reflection for anyone who suspects they’ve been coasting spiritually and wants to respond more fully to Jesus’ call to let their light shine before others. Day 21 - New Wine

In this episode of the All His Church Podcast, Chris reflects on Pentecost, Acts 2, and the charge that the disciples were “filled with new wine” to explore one of the most unexpected themes in the Bible: humor. From the crowd accusing Spirit-filled apostles of being drunk, to Elisha and the “baldhead” incident, to Balaam’s talking donkey, and even Eutychus dozing off during Paul’s marathon sermon, we walk through some of Scripture’s strangest and funniest moments and ask what they might mean for our life with God today. Along the way, Chris reads and meditates on Psalm 126, considers how God uses both deadly seriousness and surprising laughter to speak to His people, and invites you to see your own journey with Christ through the lens of both tears and joy. Day 20 - Let Your Yes Be Yes

In Day 20 of the All His Church podcast, Chris gets honest about language, cussing, and what it means to honor the name of the Lord in a world where blasphemy barely raises an eyebrow. Starting from his own story as a “championship level” cusser who asked God to take away the habit, he reflects on how the Lord answered that prayer and gave him a new sensitivity to how often God’s name is misused. Rooting the conversation in Psalm 145 and the sobering story of blasphemy and judgment in Leviticus, Chris explores why Scripture treats taking God’s name in vain as a sin with the same seriousness as murder—and why that still matters in the age of Tesla and iPhones. This episode invites you to listen closely to your own words, recover a holy reverence for God’s Name, and let your “yes” be yes as you walk with Christ in everyday life. This is a public episode. Day 19 - Rivers of Babylon

In this week’s episode of All His Church, Chris sits with the haunting words of Psalm 137, “By the rivers of Babylon,” and asks what we’re supposed to do with a prayer that ends in shocking violence. Using the exile’s lament as a backdrop, he explores how the Psalms are not sanitized hymns but brutally honest prayers of the heart—blueprints for bringing our real anger, confusion, and despair before God, not just the cleaned‑up versions we think He wants to hear. Along the way, Chris connects Psalm 137 to a surprising discussion by Father Mike Schmitz about comedian Theo Von, highlighting a raw, vulnerable “addiction prayer” that names even the part of us that knows we might fail again, and asks God to enter that very place. The episode presses into the idea that the goal of the spiritual life is not spotless performance but union and relationship—with a God who already knows the truth and wants us to trust Him enough to say share it. Listeners are invited to rediscover the Psalms as living prayers, see Jesus Himself praying them on the cross, and learn how to pray honestly in their own “Babylon” seasons. This is a public episode.
