Acerca de Bad Christian Moms

If you are in the throes of motherhood and feeling any of this: alone and lonely, frustrated and angry, ashamed and guilty, confused and lost, then you need to listen to this podcast. Whatever you've got going on in your heart, in your parenting, in your marriage, the gospel applies to it. The gospel is not only what you needed back when you became a Christain, it’s what you still need. Today. To become the person you were created to be and to show up for your kids the way you want to. God may use the very thing you think is ruining everything to reawaken in you the joy of your salvation. The gospel is the foundation of real transformation and we all need some of that! Weaving theology, psychology, coaching, experience, humor and the occasional expletive throughout each episode, join me and together we will unravel the relevance of the gospel to your everyday life.

Be Transformed by the Renewing of Your Mom Brain

We can’t control most of life — not our kids’ meltdowns, not our husband’s commute time, not the chaos that mysteriously reappears five minutes after cleaning. But there is one area God gave us authority over that we often overlook: our thoughts. In this episode, Sara breaks down how your thought life is shaping your actual life — and how learning to “clean up” your mind can change everything from your mood to your marriage. You’ll learn: 🧠 The Sequence — how your thoughts create feelings, which drive behavior, which shape results (and why this matters way more than you think). 🧺 The Cleaning Analogy — how much time you spend cleaning your house versus cleaning your thoughts — and why that ratio needs to change. 👶 A Kid Example — what happens when Mr. Moose gets “kidnapped,” and how changing your thought can change the outcome. 💍 A Marriage Example — how your thoughts about your husband being late can either destroy your evening or deepen your connection. ✝️ The Gospel Connection — why Romans 12:2 (“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind”) is more than a verse — it’s the key to real change. You can’t always choose your first thought — but you can choose your second one. And that second thought might just be the difference between despair and hope, resentment and grace, chaos and peace. Key Verse “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2 Takeaway Your brain is plastic (in a good way). It can change. Every time you redirect a thought toward truth, you’re literally rewiring your brain — for the glory of God and for your own joy. So this week, notice your thoughts. Clean as you go. And if you want to practice this together in community, join us inside The Fellowship, where we make this whole “renewing your mind” thing a regular rhythm — not just a podcast takeaway. Shame Knows Your Name

Ever done something you were excited about… and then immediately wanted to hide? Yeah. Same. In this episode, I tell the whole story of why it took weeks for me to tell a single person—including my husband—that I had launched this podcast. Publishing the episode was easy. But telling people about it? Cue the tears, anxiety, and full-body cringe. And the reason it was so hard for me is probably the same reason something in your life feels harder than it needs to be, too. We’re talking shame—that ancient whisper that says: * “Who do you think you are?” * “This isn’t good enough.” * “You’re not good enough.” * “Better hide this before anyone sees.” Shame has one goal: disconnection. From God. From others. From your own heart. And the gospel has one answer: You are already loved. Already covered. Already held. This episode walks through: * Why shame shows up most around creativity + connection * How shame keeps us isolated and afraid to be seen * The Garden of Eden roots of that “not enough” message * How the love of God is the only thing strong enough to silence shame * What it practically looks like to scorn shame and do the thing anyway Whether “the thing” is: * Posting your art * Confessing a struggle * Hosting friends * Starting a project * Admitting you care about something * Or launching your own podcast 😉 this episode will help you move toward freedom instead of hiding. KEY TAKEAWAYS * Shame isn’t just a feeling—it’s a strategy to isolate and disconnect. * The message of shame is always some flavor of “you are not enough.” * The gospel answers: “You are loved—not because you are enough, but because Christ is.” * Transformation happens when we lean into love and scorn shame by acting anyway. MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE Your Shame, Crucified — my mini-course on rooting out shame through the gospel. And hey—if you want to help others find the show— leave a rating + review ✨ It matters more than you think. Subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next. Thanks for being here. I’m so glad we get to do this together. 💛

Why “Bad Christian Moms”? | Mom Guilt, Anger, and the Gospel

Welcome to the very first episode of the Bad Christian Moms Podcast—a Christian mom podcast for gospel-hungry, drama-free mamas who feel like they’re failing and long for grace in the mess of motherhood. If you’ve ever struggled with mom guilt, anger, shame, or faith in motherhood, you’re in the right place. Maybe you: * Feel like you’re failing your kids and fear God must be disappointed too * Find yourself yelling, shaming, or reacting in ways you swore you never would * Wish you could hand motherhood back some days * Feel lonely in marriage, faith, or friendship * Wonder if you’re the only Christian mom struggling this hard Or maybe you just want to know what kind of podcast would call moms “bad.” In this first episode, host Sara Sery unpacks what the title really means (and what it doesn’t), shares her own raw story of motherhood colliding with anger, shame, and unmet expectations, and points us back to the gospel that meets us right in our mess. Find out if you're in the right place. Take the "Are You A Bad Christian Mom?" quiz 🤪: www.badchristianmoms.com/quiz [http://www.badchristianmoms.com/quiz] WHAT YOU’LL HEAR IN THIS EPISODE: * Why the name Bad Christian Moms is intentionally both attractive and repelling * The kinds of women who will feel at home here (imperfect, but hungry for Jesus) * Sara’s story of discovering how much she needed grace in motherhood * Why the gospel isn’t just for getting saved—it’s for Mondays, meltdowns, and marriage too * The two truths every mom needs to hear again and again: You are not alone. You are deeply loved and accepted in Christ. * If you’re longing for a grace-filled Christian mom podcast that’s honest, practical, and relentlessly centered on Jesus (not self-help checklists), this is your invitation to stick around. 00:00 Introduction to Bad Christian Moms 01:02 Why Did You Click on This Podcast? 02:31 Common Struggles of Christian Moms 07:53 Personal Experiences and Challenges 13:37 The Relevance of the Gospel 17:02 Conclusion and Invitation
