#8 - Strengthening the Weak - Dr. Ryan Baugus from Headquarters PT

On today’s episode of Basement Pioneers, we talk with Dr. Ryan Baugus, a physical therapist who is a co-owner of Headquarter’s PT based in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Baugus’ journey in growing a cash-based physical therapy business from the ground up has proven to be a success, despite the odds—the odds against everyone telling him not to start a company with a friend—and the odds in leaving an amazing job with incredible pay to start something on his own. Dr. Baugus took a huge leap of faith into an unknown area, but with the guidance and encouragement from people in his life, he hit the ground running and kept on going at full sprint. Listen to our conversation as he talks about his start in physical therapy, his business model and his mission in helping his clients become stronger people and athletes in body and mind on this episode of Basement Pioneers. www.headquarterspt.com

#7 - Living The Pipe Dream - Kent Jenkins AKA SnubbyJ

“That’s the hunger of artists; to have that drive and to still be wondering what more there is to discover” -Kent Jenkins On today’s episode of Basement Pioneers, we sit down with Kent Jenkins AKA SnubbyJ. Kent is a classically trained musician turned PVC-pipe-building-mallet-smashing-Blue-Man-Group-Loving-Rimbatube-Entertainer. Kent—SnubbyJ’s journey began with a child-like curiosity after hearing the Blue Man Group when he was young. That curiosity exploded to every part of his musically-mapped-mind where he decided to build his first ever Rimbatube. From that point on, he’s been on an entrepreneurial journey, navigating the pipes of rejection and success; from failure to not being afraid to fail. His encouragement to others is to follow their passion and to be willing to listen to what calls you into the scary moments of life, because at the end those are the most rewarding. Discover with us the story of SnubbyJ on this episode of Basement Pioneers.  YouTube Channel: SnubbyJ Instagram: @SnubbyJ Twitter: SnubbyJ Patreon: SnubbyJ Link to Episode: Apple Podcasts www.GoYesBox.com/basementpioneers

#6 - The Song Always Matters - Justin Abel Audio

“There’s no piece of gear that will make an album sell more, but there is a song” Justin Abel’s journey from his parent’s basement into his own music recording studio - he’s actually a basement pioneer - is a fun story to listen to. He talks to us about his inspiration for being an entrepreneur and how his hero taught him to treat every client he has with the utmost respect and service. #4 - The Waggle Dance of Education - Mandy Shaw, Beekeeper

If you are scared of bees, if you think bees are pretty cool or if you love bees with all of your heart, then I want you to be a part in listening to Mandy’s journey in beekeeping in this episode of Basement Pioneers.   Mandy (@beeingmandy and her podcast @beekeeperconfidential) fell in love with honeybees about 4.5 years ago when she decided to plant a pollinator garden in her yard to photograph bees and to also meditate in a quiet space. The more she spent time around honeybees, the more she became fascinated with learning every facet of their behavior.  That fascination grew into a passion that eventually turned her into a full time bee-keeping swarm chaser who is highly respected in the beekeeping community -talk about focusing on a niche!.    Her love of honeybees surrounds her everyday and pours into every part of her life. The enthusiasm and care she shares for honeybees spills out into the hearts of other people that meet her, and most who do can’t help but be fascinated in awe and wonder at these tiny little critters buzzing around our planet everyday.  Her goal is to educate as many people as she can and teach others just how freakin important bees are. Here’s Mandy’s story. Get in touch at WaggleWorksPdx.com and hire her for educational workshops/presentations as well as buying beautiful handcrafted beekeeper veils that she makes herself! Check out our video that was selected on National Geographic’s website as an official short film showcase selection as well as a Vimeo Staff Pick.
