Your Body Has a Story Too: Understanding Somatic Healing

Hola! In this episode I was joined by Colette Ghunim, a FirstGen Mexican Palestinian filmmaker. This part 2 is about somatic healing, a layer of healing we often oversee. Let us know what resonates from this episode and what question you would have liked me to ask her! ------------------------------------------ Get to Know Today's Guest: As a documentary filmmaker and nonprofit co-founder, Colette Ghunim’s soul purpose is to use the power of film and storytelling for those oppressed around the world to be seen, to be heard, and to heal. Her first documentary, The People’s Girls (2016), received over 2 million views and won Best Short Documentary at the Arab Film Festival. Traces of Home, her first feature-length film, documents her inner quest to find home through unearthing her parent’s forced migrations from Mexico and Palestine. The film, in distribution with Watermelon Pictures and supported by the Sundance Institute, is currently on the festival circuit and won the Grand Jury Prize for Best U.S. Documentary at DOC NYC. Colette is a 2023 Obama Leader and has been highlighted on international outlets such as Huffington Post, Al Jazeera, Univision, and TEDx.  www.tracesofhome.com [www.tracesofhome.com] @traceshome [@traceshome]@cocos.sanctuary [@cocos.sanctuary] ------------------------------------------ If you’re craving a community of fellow souls moving through creating a more authentic, intuitive led life ... join us in SoulPrimas! The Cost of Survival Mode: How the First-Gen Experience Lives in Our Bodies

Hola! In this episode I was joined by Esmeralda Garibay, a Latina Holistic Healing Guide for a part 2 and this topic is juicy and applies to us all so ponganse las pilas and listen up!! Comment what resonates from this episode and what question you would have liked me to ask her! ------------------------------------------ Get to Know Today's Guest: I am a Holistic Healing Guide certified in facilitating healing circles, with a specialization in womb healing. As a first-generation Latina, my work is deeply rooted in ancestral wisdom, embodied spirituality, and the resilience passed down through my lineage. My own journey with chronic illness became the doorway to my spiritual awakening and healing path. When conventional medicine could not offer deeper answers, I was called inward to listen to my body, my spirit, and the unseen layers of healing beyond science alone. Through this process, I learned how to alchemize pain into wisdom and reconnect with the innate intelligence of the body. Today, I hold sacred space for those seeking healing beyond the limitations of traditional systems. I weave together ritual, energy work, ancestral remembrance, and intuitive guidance infusing everything I do with intention, reverence, and a touch of magic. My mission is to support others in remembering their own power, reconnecting with their womb wisdom, and reclaiming wholeness on their own terms. Website with General Information [https://beacons.ai/sheisdivina?utm_source=ig&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAZnRzaARy1LlleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA8xMjQwMjQ1NzQyODc0MTQAAaehAYWbNxcF4hqE1MlH2HwDAH0343XhKCCqtvL0b1k7kfx8GT7BqHz788ok6Q_aem_YWdncwCbEST42UhNA9Z0oQt9tJtu&brid=YWdncwEHflELLs0Ye-5PnRMP7B-h] Tiktok - https://www.tiktok.com/@_divinacollective_?_r=1&_t=ZT-93dRTYdvWcn  [https://www.tiktok.com/@_divinacollective_?_r=1&_t=ZT-93dRTYdvWcn] Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/_divinacollective_/  [https://www.instagram.com/_divinacollective_/] ------------------------------------------ If you’re craving a community of fellow souls moving through creating a more authentic, intuitive led life ... join us in SoulPrimas! Between Fear, Hope & Action: Supporting Our DACA Community

My goal with the podcast episodes is always to yes, highlight the struggle pero also the light, the hope, the possibility... When the Aliento team first reached out l I thought ... I want to make sure this episode doesn't just speak on what is making this experience difficult for our community with DACA but also resources ... and I am grateful to Ileana and the Aliento team for coming onto the podcast but also the important resources they provide to our community and the work that they do!! Let us know what has helped you get through these times in the comments. ------------------------------------------ Get to Know Today's Guest: Ileana Salinas is a mental health advocate, and singer-songwriter originally from Mexico City. She migrated to Phoenix, Arizona at 15, where she became active in immigrant justice efforts as a student at Arizona State University. Since earning her degree in Psychology, Ileana has supported advocacy for the DREAM Act and DACA, and led grassroots efforts in Arizona and Texas. Her work blends community healing, education, and the arts. As the first Art & Healing Program Collaborator at Aliento, she helped shape bilingual programming for immigrant children, youth, and families. Inspired by her role as a singer at vigils and protests, she studied music at PVCC and ASU, exploring its therapeutic impact. Currently the Cultiva Program Manager at Aliento, Ileana leads a team of 15+ facilitators, expanding arts and healing programming to schools across Arizona. She is passionate about using the arts to promote mental wellness in the community. http://alientoaz.org/resources [http://alientoaz.org/resources] ------------------------------------------ If you’re craving a community of fellow souls moving through creating a more authentic, intuitive led life ... join us in SoulPrimas!
