A Celebrating Father & Two Lost Sons (April 26, 2026)

A Celebrating Father & Two Lost Sons Luke 15:11-32 1. The Lostness of the Younger Son * Luke 15:11-12 * Luke 15:13 * Luke 15:14-16 * He dishonored his Father. He asked for his inheritance before his Father's passing. * He turned his back on his father and community. * He wasted his inheritance on sinful living. * He broke ceremonial laws 2. The Repentance of the Younger Son * Luke 15:17-20 * Luke 15:21 * Repentance: * In Koine Greek (especially in Jewish contexts), μετανοέω means: A reorientation of the whole person—mind, will, and life—back toward God. It includes: * Intellectual recognition (I was wrong) * Moral conviction (this is evil) * Volitional turning (I will change direction) * Relational return (back to God) * So it is not just internal—it always moves outward. * In Hebrew Word: שׁוּב (shuv): To turn, return, go back. It is used constantly in the prophets: “Return to the LORD your God” (e.g., Hosea, Joel) * This is not “feel bad” language. It is: Directional language. * You were… Walking away and now you turn around and come back Key Insight: Repentance is a real turning of your whole self back to God. It’s something God is drawing and calling you to—and something you must personally respond to. 3. The Joyful forgiveness of the Father * Luke 15:20 * He ran to His Son. * He embraced (kissed) his son - before restitution was made. * He restored his son (ring, robe, sandals). * He celebrated his son's return. 4. The Lostness of the Older Son * Luke 15:25-28 * Luke 15:29-30 * He complained. * He exposed his ingratitude to his father's provision. * He exposed his immature understanding of his future role. * He voiced anger toward his brother and father. * He turned his back on his father and brother. 5. The Grace of the Father * Luke 15:31-32 * He confirmed his love for his son. * He invited him to embrace their relationship. * He invited him to join in the celebration. Key Insight: Jesus has the religious leaders right where he wants them. The parable is actually about the oldest son. And Jesus is asking them if they are going to stay outside or come in? Application * Do you need to repent and believe for the forgiveness of your sins? * Do you need to return to God? * Will you stay outside or come in?

Portada del episodio God's Joy-Filled Plan (April 19, 2026)

God's Joy-Filled Plan (April 19, 2026)

God’s Joy-filled plan… 1. Seeks out the lost 1. Genesis 3:6-9 2. Genesis 3:14-15 3. Ezekiel 34:16 4. Luke 5:27-32 2. Exposes the self-righteous - Luke 15:1-2 1. They were misapplying scripture (warnings). 1. Leviticus 20:26 2. Psalm 1:1 3. Proverbs 1:10 4. Proverbs 1:15 5. Proverbs 4:14-15 6. Proverbs 13:20 2. They had become self-righteous in their hearts. 1. Luke 15: 7 2. Luke 18:9-14 3. Explodes in joyful celebrations when a sinner responds in repentance 1. Luke 15:1-10 2. Ezekiel 33:11 Key Insight: Jesus was challenging the religious leaders  to focus on God's heart toward the lost. They were distracted by all the sinners that Jesus was welcoming. Jesus told these parables to put a spotlight on God's initiative toward sinners, God's love for sinners, and God's  joy when sinners repent. Key Insight: Jesus, the Savior of the World (Luke 2:11; 29-23), came to save lost people. So, of course, He would welcome them! That's what a Savior does! Amen?! Application: Examine your heart and life… * Am I lost? * Am I self-righteous? * Am I a complainer? * Am I joyful? When people repent and come to or back to Christ?
