Episode 5: Tanya Schuh

Tanya is CLUES’ Youth in Action! (YA!) Program Manager, a college access and mentoring program for Latinx, high school students. She joined the team at CLUES in 2013 and has over 13 years of experience teaching, encouraging, and motivating Latinx youth. She has a B.A. in Spanish, Cultural Studies, and Teaching English as a Second Language from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA and a Certificate in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Minnesota. For the last 5 years, Tanya has been involved in leading efforts around two projects through Cornell University’s Lab of Ornithology, and appreciates the opportunities they have presented for the youth she works with. From various trips to the Lab with students, to offering paid internships for youth to take leadership roles in building awareness about noise pollution, access to nature, conservation, and birds – she is proud of the steps her students are taking to grow in their own leadership skills, explore career fields, and have a positive impact on their community. This podcast is brought to you with funding by the National Science Foundation (NSF) as part of the NSF grant award, Examining Contextual Factors That Influence the Implementation of Projects Designed to Improve Cultural Diversity in the Informal STEM programming.
