Bad News for the Greedy | Part 8

In this section, the prophet John came preaching the Good News that "The Kingdom of Heaven is near!" It was good news because the King was coming in peace, with love, forgiveness, kindness, and incredible generosity. To prepare the people to receive such generosity, John brought a severe message against greed.

As we read through the narrative that describes the time right after Christ's birth and an event in his early childhood, we pay special attention to when Jesus and other faith-filled people around him were "moved by the Spirit." The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and is how we experience God and the Salvation He has brought us through the Cross. So this message is heavy on real-time relevance for those who have a great desire for, or needs, from God. Jesus always focused attention away from himself and to the Father; the Holy Spirit always focuses attention away from himself and to Jesus; and we, likewise, will take focus off of ourselves and pay special attention to the Holy Spirit. HE will be the focus of both our teaching and worship!

Pastor Bryan senses Our Father in Heaven, who oversees every aspect of our existence, is concerned that we are speaking and acting from a place of ignorance concerning his love, commitment, and plans for each of us. When we speak, act, and make decisions from this place of ignorance we can make life-threatening mistakes (sins), affecting us and those closest to us. So, may He work powerfully and quickly through this message to eradicate this ignorance and give us an opportunity to respond and be filled with this Knowledge, which is His Spirit.
