#039: Die grünen Kinder - Eine Legende aus Woolpit

🎧 Worum geht’s in dieser Folge? Im 12. Jahrhundert sollen in Woolpit, einem kleinen Dorf in der englischen Grafschaft Suffolk, zwei Kinder aufgetaucht sein. Sie sprechen eine unbekannte Sprache, verweigern jede Nahrung außer Bohnen und ihre Haut soll ungewöhnlich grün gewesen sein. Die Geschichte wird von zwei mittelalterlichen Chronisten überliefert und gehört bis heute zu den rätselhaftesten Erzählungen des europäischen Mittelalters. #038: Challenger Disaster - 73 Sekunden

🎧 Worum geht’s in dieser Folge? Am 28. Januar 1986 hebt die Challenger vom Kennedy Space Center ab. An Bord befinden sich sieben Menschen, darunter die Lehrerin Christa McAuliffe. Millionen Schülerinnen und Schüler verfolgen den Start. 73 Sekunden später zerbricht die Raumfähre über dem Atlantik. Doch die Geschichte von STS-51-L beginnt lange vor diesem Morgen. Ingenieure hatten vor den Auswirkungen der ungewöhnlich niedrigen Temperaturen auf die O-Ringe der Feststoffraketen gewarnt. Trotzdem erhält die Mission ihre Startfreigabe. Radio Obscura erzählt vom Aufstieg des Space-Shuttle-Programms, der Challenger und ihrer Crew, vom Teacher-in-Space-Projekt und den Entscheidungen in der Nacht vor dem Start. Es geht um Richard Feynman und die Rogers Commission, um die Normalisierung bekannter Risiken, die spätere Columbia-Katastrophe und um das Vermächtnis einer Mission, deren Bilder sich tief in die amerikanische Erinnerung eingeschrieben haben.
