Subscribe at https://bit.ly/RecipesForLifeYT Today's guest is Eduardo Briceño. Eduardo is a global keynote speaker and facilitator who guides many of the world’s leading companies in developing cultures of continuous improvement, innovation, and high performance. His TED talk, “How To Get Better At The Things You Care About,” and his TEDx talk, “The Power of Belief,” have been viewed more than nine million times. His book, The Performance Paradox: Turning the Power of Mindset into Action, was selected as a “Must Read” by the Next Big Idea Club and was shortlisted for the Thinkers50 Breakthrough Idea Award. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Eduardo holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as an MBA and M.A. in education from Stanford University. Most importantly, he continues to enjoy lifelong learning every day. Well, I want to start off by saying if you don’t have Eduardo’s book, the Performance Paradox then you’ll be convinced by the end of our conversation to buy one right away. He speaks about his transformational journey that started with a health scare and culminated into a practicate of helping people around the world in the growth vs. fixed mindset & the performance vs. Learning zones. Eduardo highlights the idea that growth occurs in discomfort, the learning zone, contrasting with the comfort of the performance zone. That staying comfortable is more in the performance zone but all growth happens within discomfort/ change and that is in the learning zone. Here’s Eduardo Briceno. You’ve developed a self-awareness of who you are and where you want to go… but now what? Sound familiar? I’ve been there, and I’ve seen thousands of clients right there as well… My name is Deepa, and Recipes for life is my show where you and I learn the ingredients of high performing, well-adjusted humans, how they get through their own life… all to craft a recipe for life of our own. Subscribe at https://bit.ly/RecipesForLifeYT Connect with Andy: www.agorafoundation.org http://www.andygilmanforojai.com/ Today’s guest on recipes for life is Andy Gilman. Andy is Executive Director of the Agora Foundation, a non-profit endeavor providing great books, seminars and other educational opportunities to promote civil discourse on complicated subjects. Andy has served on non-profit boards and committees ranging from the Chamber of Commerce to the Ojai Storytelling Festival to the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy. He is the father of three adult children, one new grandchild, and lives in Ojai with his wife Kate. In conversation with Andy, one of the thoughts that I loved the most is, “you don’t see the developments unless you seek it out” and it goes to the heart of personal growth and self introspection. From a lifelong learner and educator perspective, Andy shares tools for both young and adult learners, ways in which one can understand the depth of the subject matter where you are armed with knowledge as opposed to operating from a knee jerk response. I really loved the superpower of understanding each other's gaps in knowledge that shifts the conversation from convincing each other to listening to each other and much more. Here’s Andy Gilman. #007 - Suresh Bhat

Subscribe at https://bit.ly/RecipesForLifeYT Today’s guest Suresh Bhat is Chief Financial Officer at the Hewlett Foundation, responsible for financial management and planning, including financial risk management. Prior to joining the foundation, he served as the chief financial officer of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a key member of the Haas senior management team and thought partner to the dean and advisory board. He earned both an MBA and a bachelor’s degree from the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley. The reason why I love talking to Suresh is that he speaks from the heart, shares personal and professional experiences in the most authentic way and I came away from these chats feeling inspired! One of the key takeaways from our conversation and there are many, is to listen to your gut instinct, process it, have a plan and take thoughtful action. When you know something is not working, then commit to making a change. I hope you all enjoy our conversation as much as I did. Here’s Suresh Bhat.
