On Grieving and Looking Ahead

On today’s episode, we wrap up the season with a solo episode on grief. Grief manifests in all kinds of surprising ways. More than that, what we grieve can be just as surprising as how we grieve. Over the past months, I’ve been experiencing new and old waves of grief surrounding aging, the loss of loved ones, and the state of our country. If you are in the throws of grief, you may want to save this episode for later, or read through the transcript instead. I’ll be back next season with exciting updates and conversations. As always, thank you for your support, and please consider becoming a paid subscriber if you haven’t done so already. Portada del episodio Authenticity Through Community

Authenticity Through Community

Back in 2022, Randall Nielsen and Ashley Johnson were looking for community. As Queer artists in New Hampshire, they each felt a distinct lack of supportive, artistic space in which they could be their full selves. When they were connected at a Pride Festival organizing event, a creative spark was lit, and Queerlective [https://queerlective.com/] was born. Queerlective has emerged as a unique organization in the New Hampshire landscape, offering a wide range of workshops, exhibitions, and community events. They seek a more inclusive world for Queer, BIPOC and other marginalized communities through art, offering not only artistic support, but community care and social advocay as well. Today I’m joined by Executive Director Randall Nielsen, and Director of Marketing Ashley Johnson. In this episode, you’ll learn about Randall and Ashley’s personal journeys to authenticity, and glimpse into the empowering world of creating art in community. Follow Queerlective on Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/QUEER_LECTIVE/] or join their Discord server [https://discord.com/invite/6XnSqdxf36]! You Are Unstoppable with Victoria Carrington Chavez

What does it take to move outside of the boundaries that keep us boxed in — or boxed out? In part, it means letting go of perfectionism, and allowing yourself to be seen. But what do we do when the stuctures around us don’t allow us to do that? Or only let us get so far? Today I’m joined by Victoria Carrington Chavez, entrepreneur, storyteller, and visual artist. She is also the creative director and co-founder of Aspen and Lilac, and La Mezcla Creative Collective. She shares her own story of growth, acceptance, and drive, all through a lens of decolonial thought and creativity. Observing Symptoms of Dysfunction

Every problem, before it’s solved with a solution, must be met with a question. Why is this happening? An organization is no different, and when things aren’t running smoothly, it’s time to pause, observe, and problem solve. On today’s solo episode, I pull back the curtain to reveal the behind the scenes work the goes on when I’m called in to help an organization root out dysfunction. This could be anything from workflow issues to overarching culture issues (more on why this is usually a bit of a misdiagnosis later). Knowing what to look for and how to address it is a crucial skill for allowing a team to operate effectively. So take a listen to learn how you can become a keen observer and efficient problem solver within your own organization. Choosing a Different Path with Sasha Breus

You know those phases of life when things are going well, but something just feels… off? If you’re in one of those phases, then this episode is for you. This week, I’m joined by Sasha Breus. For more than 15 years, Sasha tried to save the world and fix global climate change by working in science education, nonprofit administration, research, landscaping, and local food endeavors - but felt like she just couldn’t hack it. At a breaking point, Sasha finally decided to start listening to her inner knowing. Today, she supports individuals to get unstuck and back in their flow through empathetic conversation and guidance. Our conversation explores the myriad ways we can learn to listen to ourselves, and the step -big and small- we can take to chart a path that is honest, energizing, and sustainable.
