episode Kirstie Law and Luke Latimer artwork

Kirstie Law and Luke Latimer

Kate chats to Kirstie and Luke about their race in the Arctic last month. They talk about the cold and how dangerous it can be, what it’s like to ski and hike pulling a pulk and how they joined up to finish the race together. Competing in such an extreme environment, they discussed their mindsets on the event and the fact that despite putting aside all thoughts of competitiveness, they managed to podium. Apologies for Luke’s audio at the start, but he does manage to improve it later on. Photo Courtesy: The Spine [https://www.thespinerace.com/race/arctic/] Thanks for tuning in! episode Debbie Martin-Consani and Siobhan Brennan artwork

Debbie Martin-Consani and Siobhan Brennan

In this episode, I’m joined by Debbie Martin-Consani and Siobhan Brennan and together we delve into a subject that goes far beyond ultra racing; the menopause. We talk openly about the causes, the symptoms, the impact on training and recovery and we tackle the practical realities: HRT, supplements, sleep, nutrition and how to navigate performance when your body is changing. It’s an honest, grounded discussion about what it really looks like to keep showing up regardless of age and ability. And we finish with a message that applies whether you’re chasing podiums or simply trying to stay consistent through a tough season: be steady, be patient and above all, be kind to yourself. Thanks for tuning in! If you enjoyed this episode, don’t forget to follow the podcast and leave a quick rating or review; it really helps other runners find the show.
