"When Parents Aren't Around"

As Parents thinking back on our youth, I'm sure we can all agree some of our biggest regrets were made in moments when our parents weren't around to tell us what not to do. We've all found ourselves alone in a situation where we may have had to face a life changing dilemma we simply weren't informed enough about, and/or even mature enough to make the right decision. This episode, we discuss how kids can avoid being in those bad situations in the first place, and if you so happen to find yourself in a shady predicament what are some of the best things to do to remove yourself. My 14 year old Saniya opens up about bad experience, and tells us a surprising secret she's been keeping from me, which had me feeling like a pretty crappy Dad and left me feeling pretty upset. You Promised Not To Tell !

You Promise Not to Tell? I hope your ready, because Its definitely coming… if it hasn't already, that oh so bittersweet moment your gonna be approached by your kid, and they’re going to drop this bombshell on you. “Mom, I have something to tell you, BUT, PLEASE DO NOT TELL DAD!’ or “Dad, your gonna keep this between us right???”. Ouch!!! These moments are so sweet because, your kid is showing you they trust you enough to invite you into their private life, at the same time its also so bitter because, you have to decide wether or not your going to keep the secrets away from their other parent! This episode our family discusses if privacy between parents is a good or bad idea? Should we just be happy one parent is getting the inside scoop, should parents always let each other know the secrets their kids are trusting them with,even if it means violating that trust, or should kids be raised aware of the idea to tell both parents because its not fair to single one of them out to confide in. The girls Ny and Norah stress the point, trust should never be violated, no matter who its with, While, Vinnie and Maria debate when, if, and ever it should be excepted between each other.

PRIVACY! Yours, Mine, Or Ours?

We pay the bill, they get the phone, but who does it belong to? We pay the rent, they get a room, but whose allowed in it? On our first episode, the girls and i discuss where lines should be drawn raising young teens. The girls argue privacy and trust is a must. But, Dad is skeptical of immature teens decision making, and questions wether parents should have any limits at all when it comes to being informed of what their children are involved with.
