The Life Story Podcast- S1E5 "Step Out By Faith" with Graceann Rivera

“I learned how to separate myself from illness. My body shows the illness, but I am not the illness.” - Graceann Rivera, Author of Coping Strategies for Living Above Chronic Illness “Not everyone is going to understand what you’re going through. But God is always there.” On the 5th episode of The Life Story Podcast, join host Kailey B and guest Graceann Rivera, Author of Coping Strategies for Living Above Chronic Illness. Graceann is a prolific writer, online ESL teacher, and three time college graduate. Graceann discusses being called stupid, and being told she was unable to learn as a child, and living for decades with the chronic auto-immune disease ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.) Throughout her life, she recalls being called by God to be vulnerable and to write about her experience- despite her fear and past experiences with difficulty learning. Listen to this episode to hear an inspiring story of how Graceann has inspired others in their most troubling moments, and how she has cultivated resilience through stepping out by faith. Graceann’s story teaches us that you have to be an advocate for your own health, reframing how you think about illness, cultivating acceptance of life with chronic illness, and holding on to faith in God.
