Acerca de The Pink Apostle

This podcast is my journey from works to grace, doubt to faith, and striving to surrender. Jesus calls His followers to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, and through this podcast, I hope to inspire a thirst for Him, preserve His truth, and shine His light in a dark world. It’s also the story of how God transformed my heart and ignited a passion to share His love and hope with you.

EP 15: I Thought I Was a Christian… But I Was Lukewarm - Testimony

What if you thought you were a Christian—but were actually living lukewarm? In this episode of The Pink Apostle, I share a deeply personal testimony about the moment God revealed that my faith had become cultural rather than surrendered. After leaving the LDS church and believing I had found biblical Christianity, I spent years doing all the “right” things—reading my Bible, going to church, praying—yet something in my relationship with Jesus was missing. Through Scripture and conviction from the Holy Spirit, God showed me that knowing about Him is not the same as truly knowing Him. This episode is the beginning of a new season for the podcast—one focused less on scripted teaching and more on sharing the real, ongoing journey of walking with Jesus. Key Takeaways It’s possible to know Christian language, attend church, and still live spiritually lukewarm. -Cultural Christianity can look convincing outwardly while the heart remains unsurrendered. -Scripture warns that not everyone who calls Jesus “Lord” truly knows Him. -God often uses conviction, Scripture, and other believers to awaken us spiritually. -A genuine relationship with Jesus produces transformation from the inside out. -True faith is not just intellectual agreement—it is surrender. -Our testimonies are powerful tools God uses to reach others. EP 14: Is a Cup of Coffee a Salvation Issue? Examining the LDS Word of Wisdom

Is salvation really connected to what’s in your mug? In this episode of The Pink Apostle, we take a close look at the LDS Word of Wisdom—a teaching that governs daily life and determines worthiness within Mormonism—and compare it carefully with the Word of God.We explore how a revelation originally given “not by commandment or constraint” became a requirement for temple worthiness and exaltation, how it is enforced today, and whether Joseph Smith himself lived by it. Most importantly, we ask the deeper gospel question: Does righteousness come through rules—or through Christ?Key Takeaways- The Word of Wisdom was originally given not as a commandment, yet it is now enforced as a worthiness requirement.- LDS worthiness can hinge on diet and drink, while the Bible ties worthiness to the blood of Christ alone.- Joseph Smith did not consistently live according to the Word of Wisdom after it was revealed.- God’s commands in Scripture call for immediate obedience, not phased-in righteousness.- The Bible warns against elevating “do not taste, do not touch” regulations to spiritual status.- Salvation is not found in discipline, restriction, or health codes—but in Jesus’ finished work.- Christian freedom does not reject wisdom, but it refuses to replace grace with law.Scriptures MentionedLDS Scripture* Doctrine and Covenants 89:1–5* Doctrine and Covenants 89:9* Doctrine and Covenants 89:12–13* Doctrine and Covenants 89:18–21Bible* Exodus 12:27-28* Matthew 4:20* Romans 5:8–9* Colossians 2:20–22* Hebrews 10:14* Galatians 2:21* John 6:28–29Affiliate & Sponsor Links📖 LOGOS Bible SoftwareThe #1 tool I use for Bible study. EP 13: Baptisms for the Dead: What the Bible Actually Teaches with Karli Lyman

What are baptisms for the dead—and does the Bible actually support them?  In this conversation, Katie is joined by Karli Lyman (creator of ExMormon Bible Study) to examine the LDS doctrine of baptisms for the dead through Scripture, history, and the gospel of grace.  This episode unpacks why salvation is not transferable, how works-based systems burden believers, and why Christ’s finished work is truly sufficient for both the living and the dead. If you’ve ever wondered whether ordinances, genealogy, or temple work are necessary for salvation, this episode will point you back to the freedom found in grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Scriptures Mentioned * 1 Corinthians 15 (esp. vv. 17–18, 29, 31, 37–39, 56) * Ephesians 2:8–9 * Luke 9:59–60 * Hebrews 9:27 * Hebrews 10 * Romans 5 * Romans 8:1 * Jeremiah 17:10 * Matthew 22 * Acts 7:48 * John 19:30 LDS Texts (Contextual Comparison) * Moroni 8:22–23 * Doctrine & Covenants 64 * Doctrine & Covenants 76 * Doctrine & Covenants 124 * Doctrine & Covenants 127–128 * Joseph Smith’s 1836 Vision (Alvin Smith) * King Follett Discourse Affiliate & Sponsor Links 📖 LOGOS Bible SoftwareThe #1 tool I use for Bible study. EP 12: Resting in Grace: Letting Go of LDS Worthiness Culture

Today’s episode is about worthiness: what it meant for me growing up LDS, what the temple recommend questions actually ask, and how all of that compares to the freedom we have in Jesus. This conversation is close to my heart because, when I was Mormon, I lived and breathed the idea of being “worthy.” Worthy of God’s love, worthy of my temple recommend, worthy of eternal life. But in Christ, I’ve discovered that worthiness isn’t something we earn — it’s something we receive through Him. We’ll explore: * Why “worthiness” is central to LDS salvation * What the temple recommend interview really asks * The meaning of “priesthood keys” vs. biblical authority * The difference between LDS covenants and the New Covenant in Jesus * Why true worthiness can’t come from behavior or institutions — only from grace Before we begin, I invite you to pause and pray with me — that the Lord would guide this conversation and open our hearts to His truth. 📖 Scriptures Mentioned * Luke 24:49 – “Endued with power from on high.” * Acts 1:8 – “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” * John 14:13–14 – “Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it.” * John 20:21–22 – “Receive the Holy Spirit.” * Revelation 1:18 – Jesus holds the keys of death and Hades. * Hebrews 8:6 – Jesus is the mediator of a better covenant. * Colossians 1:12–14 – The Father has qualified you. * 2 Corinthians 3:5–6 – Our sufficiency is from God. * Romans 8:1 – “There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.” * Romans 3:23 – “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” * Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace.” 💬 Key LDS References * Russell M. Nelson, General Conference (2021) – “A temple recommend reflects a deep, spiritual intent…” * Dallin H. Oaks, General Conference (April 2014) – “Priesthood keys are the authority God has given…” * Gospel Topics: Covenants – “All covenants are tests of obedience and require that we give up something for God.” ❤️ Main TakeawayIn the LDS Church, worthiness is a constant test — tied to obedience, tithing, garments, and loyalty to leadership. But in the Bible, worthiness is a gift. Through Christ, we are already declared righteous, accepted, and loved — not by what we do, but by what He did. In Jesus, your worthiness isn’t up for review. It’s already finished at the cross. ✝️ ✨ Resources & Links * 🎧 Listen to past episodes and show notes: thepinkapostle.com [https://thepinkapostle.com] * 📱 Follow me on Instagram and TikTok: @thepinkapostle [https://www.instagram.com/thepinkapostle] * 💬 Join our Facebook community: Dwell & Abide: A Pink Apostle Community ☕ Episode Sponsors: 📖 LOGOS Bible Software The #1 tool I use for Bible study. EP 11: Tangled and the Bible: An Illustration of Truth vs. Deception

What does Disney’s Tangled have to do with the Bible and the LDS church? In this conversation, my friend Juanita Longenbach (biblical Christian, former Utah resident, and certified Master Splankna® practitioner) shares the Tangled illustration she developed years ago—an analogy that helped me personally when I first left Mormonism. We unpack how words like “Jesus” and “gospel” can sound the same but mean very different things, why critical thinking matters when testing truth claims, and how to approach LDS friends and missionaries with gentleness, respect, and gospel clarity. You’ll also hear Juanita’s story of developing a heart for the Latter-day Saint community, her simple critical thinking exercise for kids, and why the real Jesus—not a replica—makes all the difference. If you’ve ever wondered how to lovingly engage with LDS beliefs, this episode will equip you with both compassion and truth. Guest: Juanita Longenbach — Biblical Christian, certified Master Splankna® practitioner, and close friend of Katie. IG: @open.rose.wellness Website: www.openrosewellness.com 20% COUPON CODE: PINK Key Takeaways Tangled perfectly illustrates deception vs. truth: Rapunzel believed Gothel was her mom, but belief didn’t make it true. LDS and Christian terms often sound identical but carry very different meanings. Critical thinking: don’t believe something just because someone told you—test it against reality and Scripture. A kid-friendly exercise can help children learn to investigate truth for themselves. Christians aren’t hostile toward people—we love them—but we must reject lies, whether taught in Mormonism or from pulpits claiming Christianity. The gospel is clear and simple: salvation is through Christ alone, by His death, burial, and resurrection (1 Cor. 15:1–4). We’re called to love LDS friends and missionaries with gentleness, respect, and confidence in Scripture. Scriptures Mentioned: 1 Corinthians 15:1–4 – The true gospel message 1 Peter 3:15 – Be ready to give an answer with gentleness and respect John 10:28 – No one can snatch them out of God’s hand Romans 8:1 – No condemnation for those in Christ Galatians 2:20 – Christ lives in me Matthew 5:3 – Blessed are the poor in spirit Resources & Related Tangled Illustration Document — https://docs.google.com/document/d/19CVo1G-xvat1sfiWeZGF-z-Z0jmfvN81/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=109070304932830309387&rtpof=true&sd=true OR DM @thepinkapostle or @open.rose.wellness the words “Tangled Illustration” and we’ll send you the full document (with scripture references & notes).
