032: The Summer Reset No One is Talking About

Let's Walk One Mile! Summer should feel carefree. And yet, so many women spend it caught between two competing stories: wanting to be present and spontaneous, and quietly terrified they are going to lose all their progress. In this episode, Sherie reframes the whole conversation. Summer is not a health threat. It is actually one of the healthiest seasons of the year, if you are willing to stop trying to make it look like February. She shares six simple summer concepts that will help you release the tension, stay grounded, and enjoy every bit of this season without falling behind. ✔ Why play counts as movement, and summer is full of it ✔ How summer naturally supports your circadian rhythm and sleep ✔ Why fresh summer food makes healthy eating easier, not harder ✔ How connection with people you love is a genuine health lever ✔ Why strength training still matters and how to simplify it for summer ✔ Why recovery is not something you earn. It is something you need. Simple Healthstyle Summer List: A downloadable summer list to help you get the most out of this season without the pressure of getting back on track. Pick any outdoor space and do it there. Ask yourself: 1. Where could I do 15 minutes of movement outside this week that would actually feel enjoyable? 2. Do I have resistance bands, or is it time to grab a simple set and keep them somewhere visible this summer? Aim for two sessions of at least 15 minutes each. Bands, body weight, or both. Air squats, push-ups, walking lunges, a plank. Keep it simple, keep it outside, and let it feel like summer.

031: 10 Things to Consider Before Taking a GLP-1 Medication

Let's Walk One Mile! GLP-1 medications are everywhere right now. Ozempic, Wegovy, tirzepatide. Sherie cannot have a consultation without someone asking what she thinks. And after months of gathering her thoughts, she is finally ready to share them. This is not a comprehensive breakdown of how these medications work, and it is not medical advice. It is something more useful: a thoughtful, honest framework for any woman who is considering these medications and wants to think through them carefully before making a decision. ✔ Why understanding the problem you are trying to solve matters more than the medication itself  ✔ What your responsibility is alongside any medication you take  ✔ Why body composition matters just as much as body weight on this journey  ✔ How to think about the long game and what comes next 1:1 Coaching Consultation https://simplecoachingsession.as.me/consultation [https://simplecoachingsession.as.me/consultation] 💌 And don’t forget to subscribe to Sherie’s newsletter for weekly encouragement and wellness tips → https://simple-healthstyle.kit.com/fbf945108f [https://simple-healthstyle.kit.com/fbf945108f] In This Episode, You’ll Learn… [00:03:30] 1: Understand the actual problem you are trying to solve, not just the visible symptom [00:04:30] 2: Remember that these are medications, not wellness tools, and treat them accordingly [00:06:00] 3: Work with a physician or practitioner who knows your history and plans to stay involved [00:07:00] 4: Don't outsource your health to a medication. Own your part of the equation [00:08:30] 5: Build foundational habits before or alongside the medication for better results [00:10:00] 6: Pay attention to body composition, not just body weight. Consider a baseline DEXA scan [00:12:00] 7: Think about the long game. What is your plan, short term and long term? [00:13:30] 8: Seek out different perspectives, not just the ones that confirm what you already think [00:14:30] 9: Get quiet about this decision. Pray, reflect, or do whatever connects you to your own wisdom [00:15:30] 10: Keep your self-worth completely separate from your weight, whatever path you choose 🚶‍♀️ Your Action Item: The Double Dare Grab a piece of paper or open the notes app on your phone and answer these two questions honestly. 1. What problem am I actually trying to solve, and what got me here? 2. What am I responsible for, regardless of whether I use a medication or not? Sit with those. Let them marinate. The answers will tell you a lot about where to go next.

030: Don't Miss Your Summer! Wear the Swimsuit

Let's Walk Half a Mile! May is chaos. Recitals, weddings, end-of-year everything. So this week Sherie is keeping it short, keeping it real, and sending you out on a quick stroll with one simple message: please don't miss your summer. This episode is for the woman who feels more anxiety than excitement when swimsuit season arrives. The one who is waiting to get in the water, waiting to be in the photo, waiting to feel ready. Sherie has three things she wants you to hear before summer gets into full swing. ✔ Why summer is already here and crash dieting is never the answer ✔ What the people who love you are actually thinking about your body ✔ Why this season will be over before you know it, and what to do about that If this episode stirred something in you and you've been thinking about one-on-one coaching, Sherie would love to connect. Pull it out and make sure you are ready. Ask yourself: 1. Is there something in my closet right now that I feel good enough in to actually show up and participate this summer? 2. If not, what is one affordable option I could find this week so that nothing stands between me and my summer? No crash diet. No summer shred. Just a suit that fits, and a decision to show up.

029: What Belly Fat Is Telling You

Let’s Walk 1.5 Miles! You have thought about burning fat, losing fat, and getting rid of fat more times than you can count. But do you actually know what fat is, where it goes when it's burned, and what it's trying to tell you? In this episode, Sherie takes weeks' worth of research and distills it into one of the most important conversations on the podcast. This one goes beyond aesthetics. It's about understanding your body's intelligence, knowing which kind of fat is actually a health risk, and learning what your belly fat is really communicating. ✔ What actually happens to fat when your body burns it  ✔ The critical difference between subcutaneous fat and visceral fat  ✔ Why belly fat is a metabolic warning sign, not just an aesthetic concern  ✔ What metabolic syndrome is and the five markers to know  ✔ How to improve metabolic health without punishment or extremes If this episode stirred something in you and you've been thinking about one-on-one coaching, Sherie would love to connect. Book a free consultation call to see if 60 Days to Simple is a good fit for you. 1:1 Coaching Consultation https://simplecoachingsession.as.me/consultation [https://simplecoachingsession.as.me/consultation] 💌 And don’t forget to subscribe to Sherie’s newsletter for weekly encouragement and wellness tips → https://simple-healthstyle.kit.com/fbf945108f [https://simple-healthstyle.kit.com/fbf945108f] In This Episode, You’ll Learn… [00:01:30] Where does fat actually go when your body burns it? A quick science lesson to start [00:03:00] The difference between fat cells and triglycerides, and why both matter [00:05:30] Why metabolic dysfunction happens when your body gets great at storing fat but poor at accessing it [00:07:30] Why women are biologically designed to store more fat than men, and why that is not a flaw [00:10:30] The two types of body fat every woman needs to understand [00:15:30] Metabolic syndrome: the five markers and what three or more of them mean for your health [00:17:30] What visceral fat is really communicating and what your body is trying to tell you [00:19:00] Why wanting to look your best is perfectly valid, and where the real problem starts [00:22:00] How to actually address visceral fat through foundational habits, not extremes 🚶‍♀️ Your Action Item: The Evening Walk This week, add an evening walk after your last bite of food. Close the kitchen, finish the dishes, maybe enjoy a small piece of dark chocolate, and then head outside for a 15 to 20 minute stroll. Ask yourself: 1. What does my current evening routine look like, and is there a natural place to build this in? 2. What would I need to shift or simplify so that an after-dinner walk actually happens tonight? The metabolic benefits are real. A short walk after your last meal helps bring insulin and glucose back to baseline, supports your nervous system, and can even improve your sleep if you catch some evening light along the way.

028: The Four Roadblocks Keeping You Stuck

Let’s Walk 1 Mile! Sometimes the most honest episodes are the ones that weren't planned. Sherie showed up this week not with a perfectly polished topic, but with something more valuable: a real, unfiltered pep talk she had to give herself first. After a few chaotic weeks of travel, family demands, and a nagging hip injury, Sherie found herself doing exactly what she coaches her clients not to do. Making excuses. Telling stories. Waiting for the perfect conditions to show up. So instead of skipping another week, she sat down on a Saturday and did the work. This episode is for anyone who has been stuck in a loop and can't seem to break out of it, whether that's in fat loss, fitness, or any area of life where progress has stalled. ✔ How to identify the stories you keep telling yourself and whether they're actually true  ✔ Why all-or-nothing thinking is one of the biggest behavior change killers  ✔ How to make adjustments without throwing everything away  ✔ What radical control means and why it's where your real power lives If this episode stirred something in you and you've been thinking about one-on-one coaching, Sherie would love to connect. Book a free consultation call to see if 60 Days to Simple is a good fit for you. 1:1 Coaching Consultation https://simplecoachingsession.as.me/consultation [https://simplecoachingsession.as.me/consultation] 💌 And don’t forget to subscribe to Sherie’s newsletter for weekly encouragement and wellness tips → https://simple-healthstyle.kit.com/fbf945108f [https://simple-healthstyle.kit.com/fbf945108f] In This Episode, You’ll Learn… [00:03:30] What the Friction Four are and why Sherie started coaching herself through them [00:05:00] Roadblock 1: Limiting beliefs, what they are, where they come from, and how to reframe them [00:08:30] Roadblock 2: All-or-nothing thinking and why living in the gray area is where progress actually happens [00:11:00] Roadblock 3: Making adjustments, the difference between modifying and quitting [00:13:30] Roadblock 4: Taking radical control, what it means to own your decisions regardless of circumstances [00:16:30] This week's Double Dare and the four filter questions to get yourself unstuck 🚶‍♀️ Your Action Item: The Double Dare Pick one area of your life where you've been stuck. It doesn't have to be health-related. Then walk it through these four filter questions: 1. What stories am I telling myself about this, and are they actually the whole truth? 2. Am I making this all-or-nothing? What would an adjusted version look like? Then ask yourself what taking radical control looks like for you today. Not perfectly. Not on Monday. Today.
