The Chain Has Been Rattled...

I promised cocktails, so we're going to drink cocktails. I didn't promise that I'd find this week's cocktail by any means more than randomly flipping through a cocktail book and picking one that looks tasty, though - but as it turns out, that's a good method. The Fiesta Cocktail turned out to be a good one! It was a good start to some fun stories like the latest in the Lager House collaboration series coming this week, and the introduction of High Grain's new canned cocktails: all fun stuff. From there - we had to take a big dive into the deep end as we tried to start unpacking the chaos of By Golly's and their parent company Epic Eeats. As these things go, though... we got a little sidetracked by the very first part of the story. Looks like there will be more to talk about!

Small Beer Domination.

This week's episode is about 'Small Beers' and their growth. It's not just small format servings, though... breweries are leaning hard into lower ABV beers that meet drinkers where they are right now. The question that brings forth for me is what does this mean for drinkers? What does it mean for breweries, and most importantly - what the heck does it mean for the industry overall? It's a booze fueled conversation... fueled specifically by a flight of four "Rums" - I say that lovingly... because one of them might have been some sort of rum-like NA option. It was weird, a little surprising, but in the end a great way to keep rolling through my warm weather Rum-exploration. In local news, through a label out of Rhinegeist, we might have a sneak peek at one of the first beers to come out of the New Riff collaboration (and I say ONE of, very carefully... because if I'm right - we might be seeing more than one of these!) I've Cracked The Code!

Camping Booze has been solved. Is this the BEST thing to drink when you're camping? We'll solve this, plus many of life's other biggest problems... sweaty, stinky, tired... It's a good one.

Wait... Does This Mean That People Don't Like Massive Drinks?

It's Highball time in the studio - and there's a reason for that. I don't know if the impending closure of HighBall down in OTR is a sign of people not liking the cocktail, or just the natural turnover of bars - but I for one... like drinking them. We also talked about Fabled Brew Works and their upcoming international tap takeover, the downfall of Schlitz, and we'll try to figure out what mystery bar and restaurant is for sale in Mason. All of this is fueled by today's rum choice - Captain Morgan, that aforementioned HighBall, MadTree's Queen City Pale Ale, and a beer that unexpectedly got pulled from the fridge - something called Ožujsko... which I don't know how to pronounce, but I now know how to drink... It's a great episode!

It's Summer Drinking Season!

This time of year feels like it was MADE for drinking something tasty. So what type of gnome would I be if I DIDN'T have something? I continue my quest through rum with a little taste of some Rhum Agricole in the form of Rhum JM VSOP, and follow that up with two beers - a perfectly on theme can of Rhinegeist Summer (a lemonade shandy) and a can of Highgrain and Nine Giant's 'High Giant' collaboration. Good show? Yeah, good show. Standard mistakes... yeah, I make some of those.
