Unfinished Business: The Black Pack Cinematic Universe is a podcast hosted by Very Smart Brothas co-founder, Panama Jackson, and brought to you by the Blacktastic Podcast Network. We are committed to honoring and celebrating the films made by the special group of Black actors and actresses that brought us films portraying middle-class Black people with problems that didn’t involve the constant threat of death. The 90’s -2000’s Black rom-com is it’s own genre that needs it’s flowers now.

On this episode (and pseudo return) of What If Tyler Perry Had a Writers' Room, we have a special treat—it's a 2-for-1! Panama brings back his homie, Dr. Manu Platt, to talk Tyler Perry's Acrimony, but this episode doubles as an episode of Panama's Pass The Peas podcast. The homies talk about the infamous WTF? of how Taraji got on that damn boat, whether or not the movie is actually of of Perry's best films and just how in the hell this movie's budget was $20 million. Have a Black one! Intro Music: Berto Antonio "Morning Rituals" Outro Music: Berto Antonio "LMK" from his debut EP, WRTHYhttps://open.spotify.com/album/7G4ZtHQLxEYUg1DPfXSNTQ?si=zLp8nhgbRpiIujqXnOAtdQ Produced, Recorded, Edited and Mixed by Panama Jackson

On this episode, Panama is joined by children's book author, Nyasha Chikowore, to discuss Tyler Perry's 2014 film, The Single Moms Club, starring Nia Long, Amy Smart, Terry Crews and Perry, himself. Panama thinks the movie would be better as a heist film and Nyasha thinks Nia Long deserved better than her love interest in the film. They both agree that it would have been better if it focused solely on the women and their support for one another! Check it out and SUBSCRIBE!

On this episode, Panama is joined by two Detroiters, Demetria Irwin and Dustin Seibert to talk Perry's 2012 film, Good Deeds, where Tyler Perry played the leading role. He's joined (in the cast) by Thandie Newton, Gabrielle Union, Phylicia Rashad and Brian White. The crew breaks down the inaccuracies in the film, Thandie's accent, Brian White's job in the movie and if there are any egregious wigs...did we find the one without any wig problems?? Check us out and SUBSCRIBE!

On this episode, Panama is joined by his Morehouse brother and homie from way back, Dr. Manu Platt, Ph.D. '01 to discuss 2013's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. They discuss the thematic issues with the film, especially regarding its treatment of HIV, the unintentionally unsubtle parallel's Perry attempted to draw between the male leads and what it's like having a church-going mother. Plus, what the hell was that limp???

On episode 3, Panama is joined by double threat writers and poets, Dara Mathis and Kyla Jenée Lacey. They dig into their writer histories, some of the plot holes of I Can Do Bad All By Myself, whether or not Taraji, Mary and Gladys had their own wig budgets and the faith-based movie genre and the discussion of style vs. substance. Thanks for listening! *SUBSCRIBE* Recorded by Panama Jackson Edited/Mixed by Jibri Griffin Music by JRan "Used To This" from his Off The Deep End album available on Apple Music/Spotify
