After Sunsets

This is the backstory of a game.Day 1: We arrived at a fishing village where the villagers warmly welcomed us. However, they have a strange rule: no one is allowed outside after sunset. Rumors say that valuable fish appear at night.Day 2: We found a fisherman’s body on the beach, which made us very scared.Day 3: We followed the host to a shrine in the village center. The villagers were worshiping a sea god, praying for safe voyages and good harvests.Day 4: We went out to sea with the villagers and caught lots of fish. Just as we were excited and about to continue fishing, the friendly fishermen suddenly pointed toward the sunset, shouted something in a strong accent, and turned the boat back to shore. Later that night, I saw a small boat quietly leaving, drifting away into the shining lighthouse lights.Day 5: I asked my host about the night fishing incident, but they suddenly got angry and warned me not to talk about the night again. While walking on the beach, we saw a thin man collecting fish from his nets—he was holding the rare fish! He had cloudy eyes and a deformed hand, and he shouted loudly, trying to attack us, so we ran away.Day 6: A friend decided to go fishing at sunset and returned safely, which made everyone less afraid of the night. That night, we secretly went out to sea again and, surprisingly, we all returned safely. We began to suspect that the villagers might be deliberately stopping us from catching the valuable fish at night.Later Days: As we grew more daring, our friends started acting strangely. Since going to sea, everyone’s sleep worsened, and they kept dreaming of dying at sea. We also started to smell like fish. Eventually, we realized that the sea god protected those who went out before sunset and offered sacrifices, but people who went out after sunset were punished—they slowly turned into those valuable fish themselves.
