ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ bilaaval mahalaa teejaa || Bilaaval, Third Mehla: ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਈ ॥ poore gur te vaddiaaiee paiee || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਵਡਿਆਈ-ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ, From the Perfect Guru, I have obtained glorious greatness. ਅਚਿੰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥ achi(n)t naam vasiaa man aaiee || ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ-ਤੌਖਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ । The Naam, the Name of the Lord, has spontaneously come to abide in my mind. ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਈ ॥ haumai maiaa sabadh jalaiee || ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਾੜ ਲਈ, Through the Word of the Shabad, I have burnt away egotism and Maya. ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ dhar saachai gur te sobhaa paiee ||1|| ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਭਾ ਖੱਟ ਲਈ ।੧। Through the Guru, I have obtained honor in the Court of the True Lord. ||1|| ਜਗਦੀਸ ਸੇਵਉ ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਾਜਾ ॥ jagadhees sevau mai avar na kaajaa || ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, (ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਮ ਨਾਹ ਲੱਗੇ । I serve the Lord of the Universe; I have no other work to do. ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਨਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਾਗਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਵਾਜਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ anadhin anadh hovai man merai guramukh maagau teraa naam nivaajaa ||1|| rahaau || (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਤਾ ਕਿ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। Night and day, my mind is in ecstasy; as Gurmukh, I beg for the bliss-giving Naam. ||1||Pause|| ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥ man kee parateet man te paiee || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਰਧਾ-ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਲੱਭ ਲਈ (ਇਹ ਸਰਧਾ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ-ਸਮਾਨ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ) । From the mind itself, mental faith is obtained. ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ poore gur te sabadh bujhaiee || ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ । Through the Guru, I have realized the Shabad. ਜੀਵਣ ਮਰਣੁ ਕੋ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ॥ jeevan maran ko samasar vekhai || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕ-ਸਮਾਨ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, How rare is that person, who looks upon life and death alike. ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਨਾ ਜਮੁ ਪੇਖੈ ॥੨॥ bahuR na marai naa jam pekhai ||2|| ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦੀ, ਉਸ ਵਲ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੱਕਦਾ ।੨। She shall never die again, and shall not have to see the Messenger of Death. ||2|| ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਕੋਟ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥ ghar hee meh sabh koT nidhaan || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ (ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ (ਕੋਟਾਂ ਦੇ) ਕੋਟ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ । Within the home of the self are all the millions of treasures. ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਗਇਆ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ satigur dhikhaae giaa abhimaan || The True Guru has revealed them, and my egotistical pride is gone. ਸਦ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨ ॥ sadh hee laagaa sahaj dhiaan || I keep my meditation always focused on the Cosmic Lord. ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥ anadhin gaavai eko naam ||3|| Night and day, I sing the One Name. ||3|| ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਈ ॥ eis jug meh vaddiaaiee paiee || I have obtained glorious greatness in this age, ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ poore gur te naam dhiaaiee || from the Perfect Guru, meditating on the Naam. ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥ jeh dhekhaa teh rahiaa samaiee || Wherever I look, I see the Lord permeating and pervading. ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥ sadhaa sukhadhaataa keemat nahee paiee ||4|| He is forever the Giver of peace; His worth cannot be estimated. ||4|| ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ poorai bhaag gur pooraa paiaa || By perfect destiny, I have found the Perfect Guru. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ a(n)tar naam nidhaan dhikhaiaa || He has revealed to me the treasure of the Naam, deep within the nucleus of my self. ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਤਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ gur kaa sabadh at meettaa laiaa || The Word of the Guru's Shabad is so very sweet. ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੬॥੪॥੬॥੧੦॥ naanak tirasan bujhee man tan sukh paiaa ||5||6||4||6||10|| O Nanak, my thirst is quenched, and my mind and body have found peace. ||5||6||4||6||10|| Guru Amar Daas Ji in Raag Bilaaval - 798

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ dhanaasaree mahalaa pehilaa ghar doojaa asaTapadheeaa Dhanaasaree, First Mehla, Second House, Ashtpadheeyaa: ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ikOankaar satigur prasaadh || One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਰਤਨੀ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥ gur saagar ratanee bharapoore || The Guru is the ocean, filled with pearls. ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੰਤ ਚੁਗਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਦੂਰੇ ॥ a(n)mirat sa(n)t chugeh nahee dhoore || The Saints gather in the Ambrosial Nectar; they do not go far away from there. ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚੋਗ ਚੁਗਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ har ras chog chugeh prabh bhaavai || They taste the subtle essence of the Lord; they are loved by God. ਸਰਵਰ ਮਹਿ ਹੰਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ saravar meh ha(n)s praanapat paavai ||1|| Within this pool, the swans find their Lord, the Lord of their souls. ||1|| ਕਿਆ ਬਗੁ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਛਪੜੀ ਨਾਇ ॥ kiaa bag bapuRaa chhapaRee nai || What can the poor crane accomplish by bathing in the mud puddle? ਕੀਚੜਿ ਡੂਬੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ keechaR ddoobai mail na jai ||1|| rahaau || It sinks into the mire, and its filth is not washed away. ||1||Pause|| ਰਖਿ ਰਖਿ ਚਰਨ ਧਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ rakh rakh charan dhare veechaaree || After careful deliberation, the thoughtful person takes a step. ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਛੋਡਿ ਭਏ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ dhubidhaa chhodd bhe nira(n)kaaree || Forsaking duality, he becomes a devotee of the Formless Lord. ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਚਾਖੇ ॥ mukat padhaarath har ras chaakhe || He obtains the treasure of liberation, and enjoys the sublime essence of the Lord. aavan jaan rahe gur raakhe ||2|| His comings and goings end, and the Guru protects him. ||2| saravar ha(n)saa chhodd na jai || The swan do not leave this pool. prem bhagat kar sahaj samai || In loving devotional worship, they merge in the Celestial Lord. saravar meh ha(n)s ha(n)s meh saagar || The swans are in the pool, and the pool is in the swans. akath kathaa gur bachanee aadhar ||3|| They speak the Unspoken Speech, and they honor and revere the Guru's Word. ||3|| su(n)n ma(n)ddal ik jogee baise || The Yogi, the Primal Lord, sits within the celestial sphere of deepest Samaadhi. naar na purakh kahahu kouoo kaise || He is not male, and He is not female; how can anyone describe Him? tirabhavan jot rahe liv laiee || The three worlds continue to center their attention on His Light. sur nar naath sache saranaiee ||4|| The silent sages and the Yogic masters seek the Sanctuary of the True Lord. ||4|| aana(n)dh mool anaath adhaaree || The Lord is the source of bliss, the support of the helpless. guramukh bhagat sahaj beechaaree || The Gurmukhs worship and contemplate the Celestial Lord. bhagat vachhal bhai kaaTanahaare || God is the Lover of His devotees, the Destroyer of fear. haumai maar mile pag dhaare ||5|| Subduing ego, one meets the Lord, and places his feet on the Path. ||5|| anik jatan kar kaal sa(n)taae || He makes many efforts, but still, the Messenger of Death tortures him. maran likhai ma(n)ddal meh aae || Destined only to die, he comes into the world. janam padhaarath dhubidhaa khovai || He wastes this precious human life through duality. aap na cheenas bhram bhram rovai ||6|| He does not know his own self, and trapped by doubts, he cries out in pain. ||6|| kahatau paRatau sunatau ek || Speak, read and hear of the One Lord. dheeraj dharam dharaneedhar Tek || The Support of the earth shall bless you with courage, righteousness and protection. jat sat sa(n)jam ridhai samaae || Chastity, purity and self-restraint are infused into the heart, chauthe padh kau je man pateeaae ||7|| when one centers his mind in the fourth state. ||7|| saache niramal mail na laagai || They are immaculate and true, and filth does not stick to them. gur kai sabadh bharam bhau bhaagai || Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, their doubt and fear depart. soorat moorat aadh anoop || The form and personality of the Primal Lord are incomparably beautiful. naanak jaachai saach saroop ||8||1|| Nanak begs for the Lord, the Embodiment of Truth. ||8||1|| Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Dhanaasree - 685,686

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ soohee mahalaa pehilaa || Soohee, First Mehla: ਕਉਣ ਤਰਾਜੀ ਕਵਣੁ ਤੁਲਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਵਣੁ ਸਰਾਫੁ ਬੁਲਾਵਾ ॥ kaun taraajee kavan tulaa teraa kavan saraaf bulaavaa || ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕੋਈ ਐਸੀ ਤੱਕੜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਵੱਟਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਲਾ ਸਕਣ), ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਸਰਾਫ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸੱਦ ਸਕਾਂ What scale, what weights, and what assayer shall I call for You, Lord? ਕਉਣੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਪਹਿ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਲੇਵਾ ਕੈ ਪਹਿ ਮੁਲੁ ਕਰਾਵਾ ॥੧॥ kaun guroo kai peh dheekhiaa levaa kai peh mul karaavaa ||1|| ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਉਸਤਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਵਾ ਸਕਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਣ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਕਾਂ ।੧। From what guru should I receive instruction? By whom should I have Your value appraised? ||1|| ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਲ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ॥ mere laal jeeau teraa a(n)t na jaanaa || ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਸਕਦਾ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤਨੀਆਂ ਕੁ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਹਨ) । O my Dear Beloved Lord, Your limits are not known. ਤੂੰ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ too(n) jal thal maheeal bharipur leenaa too(n) aape sarab samaanaa ||1|| rahaau || ਤੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। You pervade the water, the land, and the sky; You Yourself are All-pervading. ||1||Pause|| ਮਨੁ ਤਾਰਾਜੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਤੁਲਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵ ਸਰਾਫੁ ਕਮਾਵਾ ॥ man taaraajee chit tulaa teree sev saraaf kamaavaa || ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤੱਕੜੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ, ਜੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਤੋਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਵੱਟਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ, ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ (ਜੇ ਇਹ ਸੇਵਾ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸਰਾਫ਼ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ (ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਅੰਤ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਾਂਗਾ, ਪਰ) Mind is the scale, consciousness the weights, and the performance of Your service is the appraiser. ਘਟ ਹੀ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਤੋਲੀ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਰਹਾਵਾ ॥੨॥ ghaT hee bheetar so sahu tolee in bidh chit rahaavaa ||2|| ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਸਕਾਂਗਾ । (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਬੈਠਾ ਜਾਚ ਸਕਾਂਗਾ ।੨। Deep within my heart, I weigh my Husband Lord; in this way I focus my consciousness. ||2|| ਆਪੇ ਕੰਡਾ ਤੋਲੁ ਤਰਾਜੀ ਆਪੇ ਤੋਲਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ aape ka(n)ddaa tol taraajee aape tolanahaaraa || (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਾਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤੱਕੜੀ ਹੈ, ਤੱਕੜੀ ਦਾ ਵੱਟਾ ਹੈ, ਤੱਕੜੀ ਦੀ ਬੋਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਤੋਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ You Yourself are the balance, the weights and the scale; You Yourself are the weigher. ਆਪੇ ਦੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਬੂਝੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ aape dhekhai aape boojhai aape hai vanajaaraa ||3|| ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ) ਵਣਜ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।੩। You Yourself see, and You Yourself understand; You Yourself are the trader. ||3|| ਅੰਧੁਲਾ ਨੀਚ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਖਿਨੁ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਜਾਵੈ ॥ a(n)dhulaa neech jaat paradhesee khin aavai til jaavai || ਅੰਞਾਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ) ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ The blind, low class wandering soul, comes for a moment, and departs in an instant. ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਰਹਦਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮੂੜਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੨॥੯॥ taa kee sa(n)gat naanak rahadhaa kiau kar mooRaa paavai ||4||2||9|| ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਤਾ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਭੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਇਕ ਥਾਂ ਟਿਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੪।੨।੯। In its company, Nanak dwells; how can the fool attain the Lord? ||4||2||9|| Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Soohee - 730,731

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mahalaa teejaa || Shalok, Third Mehla: ਸੇਖਾ ਚਉਚਕਿਆ ਚਉਵਾਇਆ ਏਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣਿ ॥ sekhaa chauchakiaa chauvaiaa eh man ikat ghar aan || ਹੇ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਚੁਕਾਏ ਸ਼ੇਖ਼! ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਲਿਆ O Shaykh, you wander in the four directions, blown by the four winds; bring your mind back to the home of the One Lord. ਏਹੜ ਤੇਹੜ ਛਡਿ ਤੂ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥ ehaR tehaR chhadd too gur kaa sabadh pachhaan || ਵਿੰਗੀਆਂ ਟੇਢੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਛੱਡ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ Renounce your petty arguments, and realize the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਗੈ ਢਹਿ ਪਉ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ॥ satigur agai ddeh pau sabh kichh jaanai jaan || ਹੇ ਸ਼ੇਖਾ! ਜੋ (ਸਭ ਦਾ) ਜਾਣੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ; Bow in humble respect before the True Guru; He is the Knower who knows everything. ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਜਲਾਇ ਤੂ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੁ ਮਿਹਮਾਣੁ ॥ aasaa manasaa jalai too hoi rahu mihamaan || ਆਸਾਂ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੌੜਾਂ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਾਹੁਣਾ ਸਮਝ; Burn away your hopes and desires, and live like a guest in this world. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਭੀ ਚਲਹਿ ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਣੁ ॥ satigur kai bhaanai bhee chaleh taa dharageh paaveh maan || ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਚਲੇਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਵੇਂਗਾ If you walk in harmony with the True Guru's Will, then you shall be honored in the Court of the Lord. ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਧਿਗੁ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਧਿਗੁ ਖਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ naanak j naam na chetanee tin dhig painan dhig khaan ||1|| ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ (ਚੰਗਾ) ਖਾਣਾ ਤੇ (ਚੰਗਾ) ਪਹਿਨਣਾ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ O Nanak, those who do not contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord - cursed are their clothes, and cursed is their food. ||1|| ਮਃ ੩ ॥ mahalaa teejaa || Third Mehla: ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ har gun toT na aaviee keemat kahan na jai || ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹ ਗੁਣ ਮੁੱਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਹਾਝਣ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਲ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ; There is no end to the Lord's Glorious Praises; His worth cannot be described. ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ naanak guramukh har gun raveh gun meh rahai samai ||2|| ਪਰ,) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਜੀਊੜੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ । (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨। O Nanak, the Gurmukhs chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord; they are absorbed in His Glorious Virtues. ||2|| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ pauRee || Pauree: ਹਰਿ ਚੋਲੀ ਦੇਹ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਕਢਿ ਪੈਧੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ॥ har cholee dheh savaaree kadd paidhee bhagat kar || ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ) ਸਰੀਰ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਚੋਲੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭਗਤੀ (-ਰੂਪ ਕਸੀਦਾ) ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਚੋਲੀ ਪਹਿਨਣ-ਜੋਗ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ The Lord has adorned the coat of the body; He has embroidered it with devotional worship. ਹਰਿ ਪਾਟੁ ਲਗਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਈ ਬਹੁ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਰਿ ॥ har paaT lagaa adhikaiee bahu bahu bidh bhaat kar || ਇਸ ਚੋਲੀ ਨੂੰ) ਬਹੁਤ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਈ ਵੰਨਗੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਪੱਟ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ; The Lord has woven His silk into it, in so many ways and fashions. ਕੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਬੂਝਣਹਾਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਕਰਿ ॥ koiee boojhai boojhanahaaraa a(n)tar bibek kar || ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ । How rare is that man of understanding, who understands, and deliberates within. ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਏਹੁ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ॥ so boojhai eh bibek jis bujhaae aap har || ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਸਮਝਾਵੇ । He alone understands these deliberations, whom the Lord Himself inspires to understand. ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ॥੧੧॥ jan naanak kahai vichaaraa guramukh har sat har ||11|| ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧੧। Poor servant Nanak speaks: the Gurmukhs know the Lord, the Lord is True. ||11|| Guru Amar Daas Ji in Raag Sorath - 646

ਟੋਡੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ Toddee mahalaa panjavaa || Todee, Fifth Mehla: ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਖੁਆਰੀ ॥ har bisarat sadhaa khuaaree || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਇਆਂ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਬੇ-ਪਤੀ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ । Forgetting the Lord, one is ruined forever. ਤਾ ਕਉ ਧੋਖਾ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਓਟ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ taa kau dhokhaa kahaa biaapai jaa kau oT tuhaaree || rahaau || ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਧੋਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ।ਰਹਾਉ। How can anyone be deceived, who has Your Support, O Lord? ||Pause|| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਜੋ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਬਲਨਾ ਸਰਪ ਜੈਸੇ ਅਰਜਾਰੀ ॥ bin simaran jo jeevan balanaa sarap jaise arajaaree || ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਨੀ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, life is like a burning fire, even if one lives long, like a snake. ਨਵ ਖੰਡਨ ਕੋ ਰਾਜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਅੰਤਿ ਚਲੈਗੋ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ nav kha(n)ddan ko raaj kamaavai a(n)t chalaigo haaree ||1|| ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧। One may rule over the nine regions of the earth, but in the end, he shall have to depart, losing the game of life. ||1|| ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਗੁਣ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਗਾਏ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ gun nidhaan gun tin hee gaae jaa kau kirapaa dhaaree || ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਗਾਏ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ । He alone sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the treasure of virtue, upon whom the Lord showers His Grace. ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਧੰਨੁ ਉਸੁ ਜਨਮਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੨॥ so sukheeaa dha(n)n aus janamaa naanak tis balihaaree ||2||2|| ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੨। He is at peace, and his birth is blessed; Nanak is a sacrifice to him. ||2||2|| Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Todee - 711
