Les mer hello, my name is

hello, my name is is a storytelling podcast that explores the personal, cultural, and political significance of names and naming. Through conversations with guests, host Mofi B, unpacks the stories and meanings behind names, exploring how they intersect with identity and how much (or how little) names shape who we are, our sense of self, how we are perceived, and how we move through the world. episode Ep 5: hello, my name is... Olivia Onuk cover

Ep 5: hello, my name is... Olivia Onuk

In this episode, I chat with someone whose presence is nostalgic, warm and affirming. Olivia is an artist and storyteller who has lived with — and through — multiple names: the name on her passport, the English name her parents chose to protect her, the home name reserved only for family, and the artistic name she stepped into. We explore the complexity and beauty of naming — how names can hold identity, cultural memory, expectation, and transformation. She talks about the tension of growing up between names, the grief of cultural loss, the desire to reclaim her original name, and the fear of what shifting names might mean for the person she has become. We talk about alter egos, artistic personas, and how stepping into her chosen name opened space for confidence, creativity, and reinvention. As an artist, she reflects on how naming also shapes her creative world and is a testament to growth, renewal, and blooming despite what life throws at you. Her story reveals how names can carry identity, history, growth and healing all at once. This is a conversation about becoming, remembering, and the ongoing journey back to yourself. I'm very excited to share this conversation with you. episode Ep 2: hello my name is... Adebayo Chris Katiiti cover

Ep 2: hello my name is... Adebayo Chris Katiiti

In this episode, Mofi B talks to someone I’ve known for a few years now, who she was curious to unpack more of his story. On this episode, we talk about how naming is deeply tied to lineage, identity, community, resistance, and care. The guest shares how naming is a ceremonial, communal, and spiritual process in his culture. One that involves elders, ancestors, clan identity, and the individual. A name isn’t just given, it’s chosen, and sometimes, fought for. From the legacy of having a school named after him, to choosing one of his names as his artist name, to navigating naming as a trans man and immigrant. This conversation is a powerful reminder that naming isn’t just something that happens to us. It’s a practice of self-definition, dignity, and ancestral connection. It’s a conversation about roots, identity, and standing in your truth and I’m so excited for you to listen to the epsiode/ You can find more about Adebayo's work at https://www.raricanow.ca/ and on Instagram at @Katiitilifecoaching. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
