Ep. 3 (Pt. 2): Researching your diagnosis: The importance of lived experiences (featuring Dr. Ebony Glover, PhD)

Designing clinical research studies that consider the experiences of patients and their families is key to improving patient lives and outcomes. Enter Dr. Ebony Glover, an Associate Professor at Kennesaw State University who is studying how biological and environmental factors, like sex and socioeconomic status, can affect the likelihood that a person develops PTSD. Dr. Glover brings a unique perspective to the scientific community: she herself has a PTSD diagnosis that influences the type of research she prioritizes. In Part 2 of our chAT with Dr. Glover, where we talk about how to initiate mental health conversations with your supervisor, as well as ways to take care of your mental health in the face of academic challenges. ---- Listen to Dr. Glover’s TEDxAtlanta Talk on “Uncovering the full story on gender and PTSD”: https://www.ted.com/talks/ebony_glover_uncovering_the_full_story_on_gender_and_ptsd [https://www.ted.com/talks/ebony_glover_uncovering_the_full_story_on_gender_and_ptsd] Visit Dr. Glover’s Faculty webpage at Kennesaw State University: https://facultyweb.kennesaw.edu/eglove12/ [https://facultyweb.kennesaw.edu/eglove12/]

We’ve decided to split this chAT into two parts. Join us here in Part 1, where we learn about Dr. Glover’s inspiring journey into neuroscience research, which started during her undergrad at Spelman College, a prestigious women’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) right here in Atlanta! ---- Listen to Dr. Glover’s TEDxAtlanta Talk on “Uncovering the full story on gender and PTSD”: https://www.ted.com/talks/ebony_glover_uncovering_the_full_story_on_gender_and_ptsd [https://www.ted.com/talks/ebony_glover_uncovering_the_full_story_on_gender_and_ptsd] Visit Dr. Glover’s Faculty webpage at Kennesaw State University: https://facultyweb.kennesaw.edu/eglove12/ [https://facultyweb.kennesaw.edu/eglove12/]

Ep.2: Having the Audacity (featuring Dr. Steven Sloan, MD, PhD)

Serendipity- an accidental discovery; a fortunate coincidence Sometimes, life-changing opportunities find you completely by chance. Other times, they find you only when you have the audacity to seek them out. Join Patlapa Sompolpong and Aranis Muniz Perez as they chAT with Dr. Steven Sloan, Associate Professor and a founding member of Emory's Brain Organoid Hub, about the serendipitous start of his research career, his perspectives on mentorship, and the ultimate reason he chose academia over medical residency. --- Make sure to check out Dr. Sloan's research on his lab website [https://www.sloanlab.org/] and Google Scholar [https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=hwUFyzcAAAAJ&hl=en]! Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
