How Many Sticks Do You Need?

This third podcast episode is so much later than I’d hoped, but is exactly why I ask this question of myself—and why you might want to ask, too. ✨ How many sticks do I need? I have a novel releasing May 4th, that still needs a few chapters written. It also needs a final edit, line-by-line proofing, formatting into ebook and paperback, copies to be shared with my ARC readers, graphics and videos made for marketing, time spent actually sharing and promoting, following up with ARC readers, uploading and testing the ebook on various retail platforms, repeating the same with paperbacks which also requires ordering samples to double-check the print quality….and probably a dozen other things I’m forgetting. Oh, and I do all these things myself. One person, who—like everyone—has other responsibilities, juggles good days and bad, and occasionally gets thrown way off target by (you guessed it) a new “must-do” that requires more. More time, more knowledge, more tools, more resources, more energy…more sticks. Sometimes more is better. Sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes we’re working on a huge project, sometimes we just want to solve a single small problem in our personal life. How many sticks do you need? How you ask the question, if you ask the question, may spark some interesting solutions. It does for me, anyway. “Chaos” is a word that’s thrown around often, but do we really understand what chaos is? How it can be something that may trigger a fear response while also helping us problem-solve and create?
