THE GOOD PORTION

In Luke 10:38-42, Martha frantically prepares meals to serve while Mary sits earnestly listening to Jesus. Martha, annoyed, reproached Jesus, asking him to order Mary to help her with serving. Jesus sweetly answers Martha, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taking away from her." Amid a loud, chaotic world, we get distracted like Martha. I pray we would be like Mary and prioritize listening to Jesus and spending time in his presence. I pray we choose the good portion.
