I live on a half acre and try my best to work it to it's maximum potential, all the while trying to keep it away from prying eyes. Join me on this journey and the ponderings and perceptions I gather. episode Episode 97 Your Garden Doesn't Have to Be Perfect cover

Episode 97 Your Garden Doesn't Have to Be Perfect

In TreeWalker Talks Episode 97 – Your Garden Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect, I talk about something a lot of us struggle with — the idea that everything has to look just right. This week had its ups and downs. Between sinus issues, fatigue, and a bit of overdoing it with a sore shoulder, I still managed to get out and make progress. I picked up new chicks (for a great deal), started planning seed starting again, and pushed forward on building out the new chicken run and future homestead projects. But this episode isn’t really about the work getting done — it’s about the mindset behind it. Looking at my own garden, it’s far from perfect. There are weeds, uneven spacing, boards out of place, and things that didn’t grow like they should. But you know what? It still works. It still grows food. It still serves its purpose. And that’s the point. Your garden doesn’t have to be perfect. Your life doesn’t have to be perfect either. As long as it works for you… as long as it brings you something meaningful… that’s what matters. So if you’ve been holding back because things aren’t “just right,” this is your reminder — done and functional beats perfect every time.

Episode 96: What Would It Look Like

In TreeWalker Talks Episode 96 – What Would It Look Like, I take some time to reflect on life, direction, and what we’re really working toward. This week was a mix of homestead progress and real life. I talk about getting ready for chick season, planning seed starting, cleaning up the backyard, and continuing the push to get things back under control around the homestead. There were also some truck repairs, small upgrades, and plans forming for things like maple syrup production and improving outdoor spaces for more simple living, But this episode goes a bit deeper. Between insomnia, stress, and just trying to keep everything moving forward, it got me thinking…What would the life you actually want look like? Not the one you’re told to build. Not the one you fall into, But the one you would choose. Sometimes we get so caught up in fixing problems and staying busy that we never stop to ask where we’re actually trying to go. So that’s the question for this episode —What would it look like if you built your life the way you truly wanted? episode Episode 95: Take Time for Yourself cover

Episode 95: Take Time for Yourself

In TreeWalker Talks Episode 95,I spend some time reflecting on something many of us forget to do — taking timefor ourselves. This week was a mix of projects, setbacks, and small progress around the homestead. I talk about getting the brooder ready to bring chickens back, measuring out a new chicken run coming off the goat barn, collecting horehound seeds, and cleaning up after the heavy winds that rolled through the area. There were also a few vehicle fixes along the way, including an exhaust repair and installing a small solar panel to keep a spare vehicle battery charged. But the bigger topic in this episode is burnout and the need to slow down. When life gets busy and stressful, it's easy to spend all your time putting out everyone else’s firesand forget to take care of your own mental health. Sometimes the best thing you can do is step back, get outside, reconnect with nature, and remember why you're doing all of this in the first place. So I’ll ask you the samequestion I asked in the episode: Where would you go if you tooksome time just for yourself?

episode Episode 94: Why Small Repairs Matter cover

Episode 94: Why Small Repairs Matter

This week on TreeWalker Talks, I talk about the quiet workthat keeps life moving forward. Over the past few days I’ve been fixing things around the homestead —replacing a wheel bearing, rotors, and brakes on the truck, tracking downelectrical shorts in the garage, cleaning and organizing the workspace, andgetting parts ready for the next round of repairs. None of it is exciting work, but it’s the kind of maintenance that keeps the wheels turning. Small repairs, routine maintenance, and learning to fix things yourself areoften overlooked skills, but they are the backbone of self-reliance. With the world feeling a little unsettled lately, it’s a good reminder thatthe best response isn’t panic — it’s preparation. Taking care of tools, keepingequipment running, learning practical skills, and slowly building systems thatmake life more stable. I also talk about the growing feeling that it may be time to take the nextstep toward land and more serious food production. A half acre in town haslimits, and the long-term goal has always been something more sustainable. Sometimes the path toward independence doesn’t come through big dramaticchanges — it comes through quiet work in the garage, fixing what needs fixingand preparing for what comes next. Sit back, relax, and join me for this week’s conversation. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
