The strategy I use is finding what I will be nostalgic for later, while I am in the moment. I look around for the things I will remember and miss years down the road. You can do this through smells, sounds, feelings, or visually. Look around your environment now and think about the things you will be nostalgic for in the future.

Picking at an old wound will only cause it more trouble. But ignoring it when it’s acting up isn’t healthy either. Focus on the wound when you need to. If you want to do shadow work to heal, you don’t have to go out search for triggers.
