Each of us most likely has someone in our life who might be living under a false sense of security about their own eternity. Romans chapter three brings clarity about the future regarding the destination of our soul. Many today have adopted a mindset that says, “I was raised in a Christian home", or “I am a good person,” so “I’m sure I will make it to heaven one day.” Paul speaks to the Jewish people of his day who thought their own righteousness was enough to save them. The crowds in Jerusalem that day were expectant of one thing, when Jesus rode through the city of Jerusalem on a donkey, He would militarily free them from the governmental rule of the Romans as they cried out “Hosanna.” “Hosanna” literally means, “Save us now!” Jesus’ plan was much bigger as His death to come by crucifixion would save the whole world. There is a big difference between “religion” and having a “relationship” with God. Throughout Jesus’ teachings, while He was interacting with people, it was often the religious people who were adversarial. For those of us who call ourselves Christ followers, the greatest thing we can bring to the world is an authentic relationship with God and others. We must be willing to “check ourselves” with how we are living.
