In 2012, California Fair and Inclusive Education Act required the state’s schools to incorporate LGBTQ+ history and related topics into grades 2, 4, 5, 8, and 11. The textbooks for this curriculum were only recently published and many of the state’s school districts have yet to train teachers on how to implement this curriculum.
