Let's listen in to Marjorie's message. . . "What a coincidence! The apex of the Coronavirus coincides with Passover and the Holy Week of Christ's passion, crucifixion and resurrection! Are we not going through our passion? Have we not been going through our passion for the past 45 days? And I would go further than that. Last Palm Sunday, we celebrated the triumph of Jesus into Jerusalem, the long awaited Messiah. Can we not compare this to our nation in mid-February? Things couldn't have been better for any of us! The Stock Market, jobs, our fabric of life— people have money, and opportunity was waiting for most everybody. Yes, at times, it was really bazaar, but things were better. We were riding into our Jerusalem. Then, all of a sudden it ends! The medical professionals tell the President and government, 'Shut it down!' That is what happened to Christ! You see the parallel. And, we, like Christ, had our world ended as we knew it. . . As in His Passion, Christ goes to His Garden of Gethsemane—He was asking God to take this from Him. He was betrayed and led away. That also happened to us when we realized what was at our doorstep, a coronavirus, then, pandemic! Somebody betrayed us! Somebody knew what Covid-19 was. It just didn't come out of bat-food in a Wet Market. We are perhaps naive, but we are not stupid. Somebody cooked it up, had it just the way they wanted it, and let it rip. Wasn't somebody "coming to town with so much power" that they didn't want to have anything more to do with them. Yes, I am taking about China and America. We were betrayed. They would have you think this virus escaped out of a laboratory, and like batman, took flight to the nearby Wet market, found a bat, and someone ate it— virus and all. And, we are off! No, we, too, were betrayed. Somebody worked the virus to be extremely potent— also consider its multiplicity. It was a betrayal of man of man. Similar to what Christ experienced, the crazy denying, conflicting stories, misinformation. And, it's over, all over the world. In every life, there is a crucifixion. I offer, we have multiple crucifixions, where are led to the dark night of the soul. it is that juncture in your human life, in your spiritual life, that you are on the brink. 'It can't get much darker than this.' This COVID-19 experience is certainly one dark night of the soul. During our crucifixion, we die to ourselves in such a way that we know: who is Lord, our lesser Gods fall away. We die to ourselves. There isn't one person in this world who can say, "I'm the same person way I was before this stared." They are changed. We are going to see afterwards, individually and as a whole, what this really works out to be. But we are changed. Our heads are turned. We were praying last week, and the week before, to God to intervene and save us, and we continue to do it. We can only look to our resurrection and His. Let's look at Christ's Resurrection. He has died and on the third day, Mary Magdalene goes to the tomb, the rock is rolled back— He has risen, triumphed over death, sin, and pain. At a closer look, there is more good news here. There is more joy to be had here! That is what can be said of our experience, in our age of pestilence. Through our crucifixions, we have death, many deaths, many nights of terror, or days, high noons, but we are resurrecting ourselves from this world. We were faced with angel of death, literally, and figuratively, saying to ourselves "Hmm?!" —that which has consumed us, our lesser gods, our greater gods, have fallen aside. Well, forget the hair, makeup, forget about if we eat pork and beans night after night, and that we are staying home for a month! Most of us can hardly can stay inside two hours on a Sunday afternoon. We have been resurrected out of our own humanness. This is the joyous part of the story. We have made it through, though we are, at times, going through the process of our crucifixion and resurrection; it is a cycle. One moment, our knees are really bent, then we see ourselves to be in this world, but not of it; we know what this means. Then the Lord has lifted the veil and opened our eyes. We know what it means to be resurrected, and that is where we want to be . Christ showed His resurrected self to his friends and family, that is what we are to do, right now. We are to go out into the world, to the people, our brothers and sisters, our friends and family, via texts and calls, showing our renewed selves. That we are really changed, that they also may be changed. And, as with Christ, we, too, will be 'ascended' into the New Jerusalem. A new world. We have much joy to look forward to. We know, The Lord is the Lord. No lesser gods. We do not need another pestilence, Lord. We know who you are! I wish you a very, very joyous Easter! for we ave much to be joyous about! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!"
