Is Intimacy Getting In The Way of Your Intimacy?

Over-giving is not intimacy. Read that again, and say it with me: Over-giving is NOT intimacy. Over-serving, people pleasing, and sacrifice is not the same thing as being intimate and vulnerable with your partner. We’re working now on retraining our nervous systems to be able to have the conversation about the emotions we talked about in episode 7. A lot of people get stuck in reality-show mode trying to catch their partner in a lie, prove themselves right, and avoid taking responsibility for the situation they’re in. I’m talking to you… and myself, too. Beware of the people (including yourself!) who sit and lament the loss of the relationship forever. Lean into the possibilities, even when it’s hard.
