Bitcoin In Africa Show: Live from Africa Bitcoin Mining Summit- Part 2 (Gitugu, Kenya Site Tour)

The goal of the Bitcoin In Africa Show is to expand the narrative of Bitcoin by giving voice to innovators and early adopters that are leading the Bitcoin Revolution across Africa. In this podcast, we connect with fintech founders, developers, influencers, and ecosystem builders that are an integral part of Africa's Bitcoin story. We hope our podcast can help deepen your understanding of the global use case of Bitcoin across Africa and around the world. The show is created and hosted by former regulator and Bitcoin Activist Charlene Fadirepo.    On this December 2023, episode of the Bitcoin In Africa Show, this is part 2 our coverage of the Africa Bitcoin Mining Summit, held in Nairobi, Kenya. Special thank you to the leadership of Kenyan Bitcoin Mining company, Gridless Compute (@GridlessCompute) [Erik Hersman (CEO  & Co-Founder), Janet Maingi (Co-Founder), and Phillip Walton (Co-Founder), who organized the conference.  Join us as Charlene takes us on a tour of central Kenya, at Gridless’s Gitugu site. The Gitugu Hydro-Solar power plant is a solar and hydro mini-grid bitcoin mining site in the mountains of Kenya, 2 hours from Nairobi. Based in Kenya, Gridless [https://gridlesscompute.com/] acts as a buyer of last resort for energy produced by renewable mini-grid energy generators in rural areas like Gitugu. In turn, Gridless uses this excess energy to run Bitcoin mining operations onsite, thus generating revenue to pay for the excess energy and driving down the costs for the other users that draw power from the mini-grid. In this episode, Charlene speaks with Leah Adero, Operations Specialist, at Gridless, about the massive team effort required to execute the first Africa Bitcoin Mining Summit in Africa.  Next, Charlene also speaks with Diviter Kerani, Engineering Tech at Gridless, who provides a brief technical overview of the Gitugu site.  Lastly Charlene speaks with Siyanbola Yassar and Sambo Ridwan  the co-founders of Trojan Mining (@trojanmining), a Bitcoin mining company based in Nigeria. Siyanbola and Sambo talk about the incredible success and growth that Trojan Mining has experienced in the two years.  We hope you enjoy this episode!
