Acerca de Black Women In Nonprofits: Finding Joy Through Resistance in a Caretaking Role

Black women are often drawn to nonprofit spaces rooted in justice and care, yet these spaces frequently replicate the white supremacy they aim to dismantle. Many Black women face burnout from caretaking roles imposed by controlling images ingrained in the sector (Mammy, Strong Black Woman, etc.) As Zari Alexandria navigates her early career in the nonprofit sector, she learns from and strategizes with Black women in her community on how to resist white supremacist logic and find joy while uplifting their stories.
