Acerca de ENEA Young Researchers Committee Training Program

The ENEA Young Researchers Committee (EYRC) is a subcommittee of the European Neuroendocrine Association (ENEA). Here, we will upload interviews that are part of the EYRC Training Program, creating a platform where early career clinicians and scientists can access for free interviews with researchers working on neuroendocrinology, seminars, and short presentations of recently published studies.More info on EYRC composition and activities can be found on our webpage https://enea.org/enea-young-researcher-committee.

In this interview, recorded during ECE 2026 in Prague, Dr Fabio Bioletto and Dr Julia Beck share a preview of their upcoming talks at the EYRC Symposium during the ENEA 2026 Congress in Paris (9-12 September). The symposium, titled “Recent Developments in Neuroendocrinology,” will take place on Thursday September 10 from 18:00 to 19:00 and will highlight exciting advances in the field.Fabio discussed his work on the transcriptomic characterization of pituitary tumours, while Julia introduced her talk on hyponatremia and the brain, with a focus on cerebral edema and osmotic demyelination syndrome (ODS).The interview also highlights other EYRC activities at the congress, including the dedicated oral communication session, guided poster tour, and social event!Abstract submission is open, with the deadline extended to May 20. Young investigators under 41 years of age are also encouraged to apply for the ENEA Young Investigator Awards, with 20 awards of €500 available for the best abstracts.Join us in Paris in September for top-level science, networking, and an inspiring neuroendocrinology community!#EYRC [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/eyrc] #ENEA2026 [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/enea2026] #Neuroendocrinology [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/neuroendocrinology] #Endocrinology [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/endocrinology] #PituitaryTumours [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/pituitarytumours] #Hyponatremia [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/hyponatremia] #YoungInvestigators [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/younginvestigators] #AbstractSubmission [https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/abstractsubmission]Join the ENEA Young Researchers Committee (EYRC) community and stay updated on the latest research, events, and opportunities! EYRC Training Program: interview with Prof. Mirjam Christ-Crain

On behalf of the EYRC, Dr Mario Detomas interviewed Professor Mirjam Christ-Crain during the 9th ENEA Workshop held in Marseille, France, in December 2025.Mirjam Christ-Crain is Prof.of Endocrinology & Chief of the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University Hospital of Basel, Switzerland. She is also the President-Elect of the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE).In this interview, Professor Christ-Crain shares valuable insights for the next generation of endocrinologists.Reflecting on her academic journey, she highlights the importance of building strong professional networks, starting research early, and developing resilience in the face of challenges within an academic career.Professor Christ-Crain also discusses how her scientific interests evolved—from early work in subclinical hypothyroidism and procalcitonin to stress hormones, copeptin, and ultimately AVP deficiency—illustrating how curiosity, opportunity, and unexpected paths shape a research career. Finally, she addresses the future of pituitary research in Europe, emphasizing the need for stronger international collaboration, increased funding opportunities, and well-designed clinical trials to make the field more attractive to young clinicians and scientists. It was a true pleasure to interview Prof. Christ-Crain, and we hope that her experience and insights will inspire and support young clinician scientists in their own career paths in Endocrinology! We are also proud to support her recent nomination for the Swiss Viktor Award for Medical Excellence. EYRC Training Program - Career in Progress: interview with Dr. Nicole Bechmann

Here is a new series of interviews with early/mid-career investigators! We hope this will help young neuroendocrinologists grow and find inspiration for setting up collaborations. For our inaugural interview, on behalf of the EYRC, Dr. Cihan Atila interviewed Dr. Nicole Bechmann shortly after the past ESE Summer School, held in Innsbruck, Austria in June 2024.Research FocusDr. Nicole Bechmann investigates adrenal gland tumors and their role in endocrine hypertension disorders such as primary aldosteronism, Cushing’s syndrome, and pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma. Her work explores the interplay between genetics, metabolism, adrenal hormones, and sexual dimorphism to understand tumor formation and progression. Combining clinical studies with basic research, her goal is to improve diagnosis and develop better therapies for adrenal tumors. ExpertiseDr. Bechmann specializes in adrenal physiology, tumor biology, and catecholamine and steroid metabolism. She utilizes advanced cell line models, including 2D, 3D, and flow-through systems, to study pheochromocytoma, neuroblastoma, and adrenocortical carcinoma. Her work includes gene editing techniques like CRISPR/Cas9 for functional validation of genetic variants, studies of small molecule inhibitors, and investigations into tumor cell metabolism, migration, and invasion. These multidisciplinary approaches aim to advance our understanding of adrenal tumors and identify novel therapeutic targets. It was a pleasure to interview Dr. Bechmann, and we hope her insights will aid in developing your career!
