Child Marriage: The Hidden Abuse No One Wants to Talk About

In this episode of Gyno Info, I’m talking about child marriage — and why I consider child brides to be victims of childhood sexual abuse. As an OB‑GYN, I’ve seen firsthand how early pregnancy and forced marriage impact young girls physically, emotionally, and socially. While many countries officially list 18 as the legal age of marriage, there are still loopholes through parental or judicial consent that allow girls — sometimes as young as 13, or with no minimum age — to be married, often after becoming pregnant. In this episode, I break down: * How child marriage exposes girls to repeated sexual assault * The serious health risks of pregnancy in children, including preeclampsia, premature birth, maternal death, and obstetric fistulas * The increased risk of sexually transmitted infections * The long‑term mental health, educational, and economic consequences * Why poverty, sexism, and cultural systems continue to fuel this practice I also discuss recent global changes to marriage laws, including countries that have removed or lowered minimum age protections. This is a difficult topic — but it’s one we need to talk about openly if we want real change. My goal with Gyno Info is always the same: to help women understand their bodies, advocate for themselves, and demand better healthcare and legal protections. If you believe girls deserve protection, education, and autonomy over their bodies, this episode is for you. Menopause HRT, Painful Sex & Ectopic Pregnancy — Your Questions Answered

In this episode of Gyno Info, I’m answering your real questions about menopause hormone therapy, painful sex after menopause, and ectopic pregnancy. First, I break down why two menopausal women might be prescribed totally different HRT regimens. I explain the difference between a combo estrogen + progestin patch and using an estradiol patch with oral bioidentical progesterone. We talk convenience, “natural” preferences, progesterone’s sleep benefits, side effects, and how I think about HRT safety today. Next, we tackle painful sex after menopause. Estrogen loss causes thinning, dryness, and loss of elasticity in vaginal tissue — and that’s why intercourse can hurt. I explain why lubricants often aren’t enough and how prescription vaginal estrogen (or systemic therapy) can truly fix the problem — though it can take a few months to see full improvement. Finally, I clarify the difference between ectopic pregnancy and tubal pregnancy. A tubal pregnancy is the most common type of ectopic pregnancy, meaning implantation happens outside the uterus. I review symptoms, rupture risks, internal bleeding, and early treatment options like medication or surgery. If you’re navigating menopause, vaginal dryness, HRT decisions, or early pregnancy concerns — this episode is for you. Fiber for Women Over 40: Constipation, Cholesterol & Hormone Support

If you’re constipated, bloated, or your cholesterol is creeping up… fiber might be the missing piece — and you’re probably doing it wrong. In this episode, I break down soluble vs. insoluble fiber in plain English — what they actually do in your body, how they affect constipation, cholesterol, heart disease risk, and blood sugar… and how much fiber you really need each day. Most people aren’t getting enough — and increasing it the wrong way can make things worse. We’ll talk about: * The best high‑fiber foods * Whether Metamucil or psyllium actually works * How to increase fiber without gas and bloating * What to know if you have IBS or diverticulosis Your gut health affects everything — your energy, your hormones, your heart. Start with fiber, start slowly, and start smart. If this helped you, subscribe and share it with someone who needs better digestion. The Truth About the Birth Control Pill: Weight Gain, Migraines & Blood Clots

In this episode, I answer the most common (and most Googled) questions I get about the birth control pill — in plain, real‑world language. We talk about how to actually take the pill correctly (including what time of day makes the most sense), whether it’s safe to skip your period, what the “mini pill” really means, and the truth about weight gain. Spoiler: the pill does not cause weight gain. And yes, you can safely skip placebo pills if that’s right for you. I also break down: * ✅ The best time of day to take birth control * ✅ How to safely skip periods using continuous pills * ✅ What the “mini pill” actually is (progesterone-only vs ultra–low-dose combined pills) * ✅ Birth control and migraines (especially migraines with aura) * ✅ Breast cancer myths vs what major medical organizations actually say * ✅ Blood clot risk — who’s at higher risk and when progesterone-only options may be safer We get into the real medical data around blood clots, smoking, obesity, and family clotting disorders, because that’s the most important serious risk to understand. If you’ve ever wondered: - “Is it bad to skip my period?” - “Will birth control make me gain weight?” - “Can I take the pill if I get migraines?” - “Does birth control increase cancer risk?” This episode is for you. My goal is always the same — give you evidence-based information so you can make informed decisions about your body. Bleeding After Menopause? Don’t Ignore This (Endometrial Cancer Warning Signs)

If you’ve had bleeding after menopause, even light spotting or brown discharge, this episode is for you. In today’s Gyno Info, I’m breaking down exactly how I evaluate postmenopausal bleeding, when to worry about endometrial cancer, and what the updated ACOG guidelines say about ultrasound, biopsy, and next steps. Postmenopausal bleeding means any bleeding after 12 months without a period — and yes, even one episode matters. About 1 in 10 cases are linked to endometrial cancer. The good news? When we catch it early, it’s often very curable. I’ll walk you through the real risks, what testing actually looks like, and when you can feel reassured. If you’re experiencing postmenopausal bleeding, please don’t ignore it. And if you’re a clinician, this episode walks through exactly how I apply the latest guidelines in real life. Let me know your questions in the comments — I read them.
