On this episode of Hot Pot Poddie, we sit down with legendary producer and engineer Sylvia Massy. She formally received a Grammy in 2024 for her engineering/mixing work on Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit's Weathervanes.  We dive into her incredible 45 year career working with artists like Tool, Johnny Cash, Prince and System of a Down. We chat about recording experimentation, vintage microphones, and her new book The Great Vintage Microphone Book. We also got the goods on her favorite mic for female vocals, the RCA KU3A ribbon mic. Sylvia also shares stories about her all girl band in San Francisco, her Studio Confidential chats, teaching with Abbey Road Institute in Mumbai.
