The Foundation of Food ( 2 of 2 )

God’s original design was life-giving and plant-based, but after sin and the flood, He expanded humanity’s diet to include meat—with clear spiritual boundaries. Our food choices matter because our bodies are God’s temple, and how we eat should be prayerful, purposeful, and aligned with His Word. * After the Flood, Worship Comes First When Noah leaves the ark, his first act is to build an altar and offer a sacrifice to God. This act of worship leads to a powerful shift in God’s response toward humanity. * The Curse on the Ground Is Lifted In Genesis 8, God declares that He will no longer curse the ground for man’s sake—a reversal of what happened after Adam and Eve’s fall. This is a major blessing that affects how humanity lives and eats. * God Expands the Human Diet In Genesis 9, for the first time in Scripture, God permits humans to eat meat in addition to vegetation. This marks a significant transition from the original Edenic, plant-based diet. * A Clear Boundary: No Blood Although meat is allowed, God gives a clear command not to consume blood, which represents life. Life belongs to God, and even in allowance, He establishes limits. * Death Entered Through Sin, Not Design Originally, humans and animals were herbivores, and nothing died. Death—and the eating of flesh—only entered the world after sin. God’s original intention was life and abundance, not death. * Food is Not Just Physical What we eat and how we eat should be a matter of prayer. God cares about how we steward our bodies because they are the temple of the Holy Spirit. * Purposeful Eating for Kingdom Work Caring for our bodies strengthens us to carry out God’s work on the earth. Nourishment isn’t just about survival—it’s about service. * What’s Next The journey continues into Leviticus, where God gives even more detailed instructions about food, holiness, and caring for the body. The Foundation of Food ( 1 of 2 )

God designed the perfect provision for humanity from the very beginning, including the food we eat. By understanding His Word, we can align our lives—spiritually, physically, and mentally—with His original design. Key Points: 1. God’s Creation is Perfect and Purposeful Plants, herbs, and fruit trees were created to reproduce after their own kind. Everything God made was “good” (Hebrew: Tov – functional, beautiful, harmonious, beneficial, fulfilling purpose). 2. Provision Before Humanity God created what sustains life before man existed, showing His care and foresight. 3. Humanity in God’s Image Man and woman were created in God’s image, blessed to be fruitful, multiply, and have dominion over all living things. 4. God’s Original Food Design Genesis 1:29 shows God gave humans every herb and fruit-bearing tree for sustenance. This food was perfect for the body—functional, beneficial, and harmonious. 5. Modern Reflections Today’s processed foods cannot compare to God’s original design. Understanding God’s intent for nourishment lays a foundation for holistic health. 6. Scriptural Encouragement God’s intent is to bless, sustain, and provide life, not disease or infirmity. Studying scripture helps us see His plan for our bodies, including what we eat. Takeaway: Sisters, what God designed for us is the absolute best. Meditate on these scriptures and let God guide how you care for your body and soul.
