Acerca de Judging Judy | the world's top fake courtroom comedy podcast

An unabashed, unauthorized and thoroughly absurd look into Judge Judy: the cases PLUS the judge herself. Did Judy deliver justice? Did she treat the people who entered her court fairly? Or was she too busy rolling her eyes, gesticulating, and, generally speaking, acting a fool. At last, it's our turn to judge Judy and decide if she's guilty -- of being a bad judge. With 25+ years of cases, we've got lots to explore from Judy's courtroom. Ultimately, Judging Judy is an exploration into the zeitgeist of the 90s, early aughts and tens. Judging Judy #9 - Discord of the Ring | a comedy podcast

She thought it was love right up until he served her with paternity papers. He thought it was an engagement ring, even though he gave it to her on Mother’s Day. Now, it’s up to Judy to decide who gets the ring and who gets nothing but a very stern lecture. And it’s up to us to decide if Judy is innocent or guilty! That’s right, another week of Judging Judy, the only podcast that turns the tables on America’s least favorite TV judge. Unlike other podcasts you might accidentally listen to, like, say, Smartless, Judging Judy does real work. We go beyond the fluff. We go beyond the platitudes. We’re here to figure out if Judy actually did her job. If she did, she’s innocent. If not, she’s guilty. Perfect for fans of podcasts like the Doughboys and Cinephobe, Judging Judy is a one-of-a-kind exploration into the cultural phenomenon that was, and still is, Judge Judy. Each week, we direct an episode from the show’s long, storied archives. We set the mood with quick refresher on what was going on in the world when the episode aired. Then, we do an exhaustive watch-along style play-by-play of the cases that came before the Judge that day. Ultimately, though, we’re not here for anything else but justice. And our rulings are not to be trifled with! This week’s episode originally aired way back in 1998 and, boy, the hairstyles definitely reflect it. Any one of the people on today’s episode could be a Comedy Bang Bang character, and I dare say, some might do well on a show like St. Denis Medical. Our two petitioners to the court are, rhetorically speaking, battling over a ring he gave her. But, ultimately, Judy makes this a case about their kids, and how they should be treated. Judy has some real concerns for how the kids will be raised and the importance of them having a father in their life. Are these concerns valid or is it just another case of Judy sticking her legal nose where it doesn’t belong? You’ll just have to listen to find out. There’s also a lot of back and forth, perhaps too much in fact, about if the kids eat dinner or not, but, look, none of that matters. Like the Willy Wonka movie with Timothee Chalamet, you can just forget all that. All that matters is our ultimate decision: innocent or guilty. Because, after all, we’re here to Judge Judy. We’re on Judy duty. This is a public episode. Judging Judy #8 - The 3 Words ALL MEN Are Incapable of Saying | a comedy podcast

In this episode from way back in 2019, before any of us could spell Covid never mind knew what it was, we’ve got a case of two ex-lovers fighting over money paid for a mortgage. She says he owes her: he begs to disagree. As you’ll quickly learn, he not only doesn’t deserve the money; he doesn’t deserve a thing. He’s a real terror, and Judy gives him her what for all throughout the episode. I mean, come on. But does she give US justice? That is the real question we answer on Judging Judy. The judge had a leading show for over 25 years but though she got to rule on others, the tables had never been turned on her: until now! Suffice to say, this episode has more than just a mortgage payment on the line. We’ve got a headstone. We’ve got harassment. We’ve got back rent. And that’s to say nothing on the wrecked car and child witness in Case 2! I might have outdone myself. Perfect for fans of comedy podcasts like the Doughboys, Comedy Bang Bang, Cinephobe, Judge John Hodgman, Threedom and Blank Check, Judging Judy is a hilarious take on America’s most-hated and most-loved TV judge. It’s kind of like I love the 80s, but it’s all about one person who occupied the cultural space like no other: Judge Judy. In each episode, we get a quick recap of what was going on in the world when the episode aired. Then, we’ve got a play by play of the cases that came before Judy. Finally, we get a judgement: innocent or guilty. It’s our duty to judge Judge Judy. Judging Judy is a critique of pop culture, a litmus test for the zeitgeist, and ultimately a good time. It is not a true crime podcast as Spotify seems to think. But, if you like true crime, you might enjoy it! I don’t know; give it a try. And Happy Belated Canadian Thanksgiving! Judging Judy Episode 7: Disney Deeds...DONE DIRT CHEAP? | a comedy podcast

It’s all about fraud and greed this week on Judging Judy! It’s 2020 and all they want to do is visit Disneyland for the kid’s birthday— but she scammed them out of their money? Or…did she?! Maybe the reason was because it was 2020, and he had COVID! It’s up to Judge Judy to decide whether or not this family’s newfound friend — and Disneyland employee — was actual a conniving con artist. After all, they accuse her of not just stiffing them on the tickets: they say she made lots of big promises. She was about to become a millionaire! They would buy a bar together! She would buy them a house! She was going to give them a new car for just a few hundred dollars! Were they fooled by a master liar? Or did they get greedy and fall into a trap of their own making? It’s up to Judge Judy decide! Case 2, meanwhile, is about a slumlord! She didn’t provide electricity to her tenants, she didn’t pay the taxes and the property was eventually foreclosed upon. And even though she got the property for free, she still thinks she’s owed back rent by own of her tenants! It’s up to Judge Judy to decide if she’ll get any of the money she thinks she’s owed. And then, of course, finally, it’s up to me to decide whether it’s Judge Judy who’s innocent or not. Did she do her job and deliver justice with the cases before her? Or did she shirk her duty and act a fool? It’s finally time to turn the tables on Judy Shendlin and decide if she is guilty. And I’m just the right person to Judge Judy. A hilarious comedy in the spirit of other top podcasts like Doughboys, Comedy Bang Bang, the Neighborhood Listen and Cinephobe, Judging Judy is a nostalgic look back at one of America’s cultural stalwarts: Judge Judy. However, we’re not here to just praise Judy, like that Amy Poehler podcast. We turn a critical eye to better understand the role Judy played in her cases and in America at large. Each episode features a quick look at what was going on when the episode aired, a recap of the cases, and, ultimately, a judgement on whether Judy delivered justice. If she did, she’s innocent. If not, she’s guilty. Perfect for fans of comedy, TV, courtroom dramas, nostalgia, pop culture, and the zeitgeist at large, Judging Judy is a one of a kind podcast that, unequivocally, is perfect for every audience. This is a public episode. Judging Judy Episode #6 - Cruisin' for Disillusion | a comedy podcast

Case #1: He thought it was love; she thought they were gifts. It’s a classic he said, she said. It’s a sad sop cruise director vs. a flighty flight attendant. The only thing the two can agree on is that they are no longer in love. It’s up to Judy to decide if she owes him back the money and TV he bought; otherwise, she gets to watch the Super Bowl on with her new beau. Case #2: His dreams of karaoke fame and stardom relied on one thing: her money. But when they broke up, he kept on singing without paying her back. He claims that it was a gift and didn’t even need her money thanks to his lucrative hair cutting business. She says he’s a loser, a failure and kind of a weirdo. Will Judy side with the slighted ex-girlfriend who, all things considered, should have never given the guy money to begin with? Or will she side with the guy who’s proudly only working two nights a week at a bowling alley doing glow-in the dark karaoke? This is Judging Judy! The only show that turns the tables on America’s favorite TV judge. Or least favorite! It’s really up to you. It’s our duty to judge Judge Judy. Not familiar with Judge Judy? No problem! In each episode, I first set the scene by reminding you what was going on in the world when the episode originally aired; after all, it was on for over 25 years, so you can be forgiven for not remembering every single detail. Then, I do a play-by-play of the case, explaining what happened; I watch it, so you don’t have to. Finally, I decide if Judge Judy truly did her job that episode. I’m looking not only at the rulings themselves but the Judge’s conduct as well. Did she act like a child? Did she yell and scream and pout? Did she showboat? Did she roll her eyes too many times? Did she, ultimately, treat those who came before her with dignity and respect? If Judge Judy acted fairly, she’s innocent. If not, she’s guilty. Judge Judy is a comedy podcast like no other. With that said, if you like movie podcasts like Cinephobe, I think you’ll like Judging Judy. If you like food podcasts like the Doughboys, I think you’ll like Judging Judy. If you like improv podcasts like Comedy Bang Bang, I think you’ll like Judge Judy. If you like sports podcasts like the ones Bill Simmons does, you may or may not like Judge Judy. I encourage you to listen and find out for yourself. Not only is Judging Judy hilarious, it also provides an insightful look at American society and the people in it. The original show captured the zeitgeist; we tear down that zeitgeist to see what its seedy underbelly looked like. If you like podcasts about seedy underbellies, this is also the podcast for you! Judging Judy Episode #5 - HER BARK is Worse than ITS BITE | a comedy podcast

Once again, Judy is on doggy duty. She has to decide whether Talisha is telling the truth — did her cousin’s pup really try to attack her? Talisha claims that she had to jump into her car via its sun roof to save her skin. But they say that the dog was friendly and precocious, and… they kind of imply that Talisha is out of her mind. This is a four-legged family feud! Judy dives deep into how the Trouser family got the dog and goes to great lengths to insult every member of the family for being irresponsible dog honors and all-around bad people. Is Judy’s treatment of the defendant’s justified or is she guilty of being a big old jerk? That’s for us to decide! Our second case is all about child-support and volleyball, topics that hit close to home for all red-blooded Americans. Or am I just thinking of myself? I very well may be! Anyway, Dad doesn’t want to pay for his daughter’s volleyball fees because he feels like he’s been paying child support his whole life. Ignore the logical fallacy! Meanwhile, Judy wants an explanation from Mom as to why she’s getting child support at all. It’s a classic switcheroo from America’s favorite daytime TV judge. And, as always, we wind the episode up with a ruling: is Judge Judy guilty or is she innocent? Did she do her job and deliver justice? Or was her act a little too much? You’ll have to listen to Judging Judy, the #1 podcast that does what we do that I know of. If there is any podcast like this one, don’t tell me about it, I don’t want to know! Judging Judy is a hilarious exploration of the judge and the people who came before her in the courtroom. Perfect for those who are already Judy fanatics as well as those who don’t know a thing about the show. On each episode of Judging Judy, we do a play-by-play of the cases featured that week, ensuring you don’t need to know a thing going in. All you need to do is laugh. Please laugh. Judging Judy is perfect for fans of podcasts like Cinephobe, the Doughboys, Comedy Bang Bang, All Fantasy Everything and Call Me Daddy. Just kidding about Calling Me Daddy. I mean, it might work. Who knows? Not me. I’ve never listened to Call Me Daddy. It could work! Don’t count it out! Do you remember daytime TV? Do you remember the last 25 years or so? Then Judging Judy is the podcast for you! Among the most popular podcasts for humans, dogs, cats and alike, Judging Judy has a play-by-play, plus historical review of what was happening when each episode aired. This is a public episode.
