This week, Daniel sits down with a very special guest, Professor Peter Humaidan.  About Professor Humaidan: I am a specialist in reproductive endocrinology and, professor at The Fertility Clinic Skive Regional Hospital, Aarhus University, Denmark. During my scientific work I have primarily focused on developing individualized treatment protocols for the infertile patient. My doctoral thesis (DMSc) explored the role of LH during the follicular and luteal phases in controlled ovarian stimulation. My main fields of interest are triggering of ovulation with GnRH agonist, luteal phase physiology of the stimulated as well as the frozen embryo transfer cycle, male infertility including sperm DNA damage, and role of the female genital tract microbiota for reproductive outcomes. I am the founder of the international society “The Copenhagen GnRHa Triggering Workshop Group” which introduced GnRHa trigger in modern IVF, changing trigger policies worldwide and eliminating OHSS. Moreover, I am co-founder of the POSEIDON group which suggested a new stratification of the poor responder patient. I am also co-founder of the very recent APHRODITE criteria - a new classification system of the infertile male, suggesting medical treatment to boost sperm quantity and quality. Finally, I am past board member of the ESHRE SIG Endocrinology Group. I authored and co-authored 270 + articles (H-index 70, Google Scholar) in international peer reviewed journals as well as the Danish guidelines for OHSS prevention and chapters in textbooks.
