The Life and Teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya 4

In our final session with Yogacharya Sridharan, we had the opportunity to ask questions. Recognizing the cultural and worldview differences between East and West, I thought it would be helpful to share some of the most relevant questions and answers. By listening to this episode and the three previous ones, we gain a deeper understanding of Sri Krishnamacharya’s teachings and worldview, as well as valuable insights into the roots of modern yoga. The Life and Teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya 3

While the life of Sri Krishnamacharya has been explored to a great extent, his personal beliefs and philosophical background remain somewhat more mysterious. In this podcast, Yogacharya Sridharan, a senior mentor from the Sri Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandir in Chennai, will present a text called Yoga Valli, composed by Krishnamacharya, which contains his commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Sri Krishnamacharya outlines his personal beliefs and approach to yoga as both a philosophy and a spiritual practice. In doing so, he quotes the Bhagavad Gita, various Upanishads, and other texts to create a thorough and comprehensive approach to yoga. If you are curious about the spiritual beliefs of the father of modern yoga, this episode will be very interesting! If you enjoy our podcast you might like to check out our other projects too!
