https://www.youtube.com/live/LUortTWaEZQ?si=8OBjEG_sVSI5aPbJ [https://www.youtube.com/live/LUortTWaEZQ?si=8OBjEG_sVSI5aPbJ] Dr. Adeanna Tazell’s research on guarding the Black womb challenges us to confront an uncomfortable but necessary truth: melanin, while biologically protective in many ways, becomes a marker of risk within maternal healthcare systems that are not designed to serve Black women equitably. Her work does not argue that melanin itself is inherently dangerous, but rather that the presence of melanin exposes Black women to systemic disparities, implicit bias, delayed diagnoses, and inadequate care. Through a critical lens, Dr. Adeanna highlights how clinical assessments often overlook symptoms in darker skin tones, how pain is underestimated, and how structural inequities compound during pregnancy and childbirth. The result is a disproportionate rate of maternal morbidity and mortality among Black women. Guarding the Black womb, then, becomes both a medical and social imperative—one that calls for culturally competent care, policy reform, and a re-centring of Black women’s voices in healthcare design and delivery. FILM, CULTURE & IDENTITY

On the latest episode of the Nana Yaa Yeboaa Podcast, I sat down with Vladimir Jean-Gilles, a film critic, journalist, and cultural commentator whose work lives right at that intersection. Our conversation explored what it really means to engage with film beyond entertainment—how criticism can be personal, how identity informs taste, and why global perspective matters more than ever in media. Vladimir shared thoughtful insights on navigating major media platforms while staying true to your voice, the responsibility that comes with cultural commentary, and how travel can deepen—not flatten—our understanding of stories. This episode is for anyone thinking about representation, storytelling, and how culture quietly shapes our values. It’s a reminder that film isn’t just something we watch—it’s something we live with, learn from, and question. 🎙️ Episode now live. Finding Purpose Through Sound: Otholvin’s Emotional Journey from Engineer to Artist

In this episode, we sit down with Ethan Brown — known creatively as Otholvin — to explore his remarkable evolution from sound engineer to multidimensional artist. Ethan opens up about how sound became both his craft and his compass, leading him from the technical world of engineering into music, storytelling, and deeper self-expression. We dive into the creation of his experimental project The Tutorial, the immersive storytelling behind his audio drama The Liar’s Tales, and the emotional and artistic growth that shaped both works. Ethan reflects on finding purpose through creativity, rebuilding his identity after losing his previous account, and discovering what it truly means to evolve as an independent artist. This conversation is a thoughtful blend of music, mindset, and meaning — perfect for listeners interested in production, artistic development, personal transformation, and the courage to pursue a new creative path. Listen as Ethan shares: • Why he shifted from engineering into music • How sound helps him explore purpose and identity • The creative process behind The Tutorial and The Liar’s Tales • Milestones he wants to achieve next • What success means to him today Connect with Ethan: linktr.ee/Otholvin Watch Full Video here ! https://youtu.be/5oRvteW9n4g [https://youtu.be/5oRvteW9n4g] Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2036694/support] www.philjoemultimedia.com

The Need for Structure in Your Life as a Black and Immigrant Woman

As a Black and immigrant woman, structure isn’t just a luxury; it’s a form of power. Life often demands that you juggle multiple identities: professional, caregiver, dreamer, and survivor. Without a clear sense of structure, it’s easy to drown in expectations that were never designed with you in mind. Structure becomes your quiet rebellion—a way to define your own rhythm, set boundaries, and prioritize what truly matters. It helps you transform chaos into clarity and turn your dreams into daily actions. Through structure, you create consistency where uncertainty once lived and build systems that protect your peace and progress. Whether it’s setting morning routines, financial goals, or emotional check-ins, structure enables you to lead your life intentionally, rather than reactively. Remember, structure isn’t rigidity; it’s your roadmap to freedom, balance, and self-ownership.  Support the show [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2036694/support] www.philjoemultimedia.com
