The Biology of Fear

Episode 3: The Biology of Fear - Fear at it's Most Basic It's Spooky Season, and what a better topic than Fear and what it does for, and to, our bodies. Fear is a universal emotion, an age-old companion that has shaped the course of human history, and intregal to our survival. It's the pulse-quickening sensation that sets our hearts racing and sends shivers down our spines. But it's more than just an unpleasant feeling—it's a complex, fascinating, and deeply ingrained aspect of the human experience. This episode also includes special segment on fear as a pleasure source, for all you out there that love a Halloween spook! Episode Highlights: * 🔆 The dictionary's definition on fear, and an alternative one based on scientific research.  * 🔆 The biology of fear and how much of it is mental.  * 🔆 What happens to our body when we feel the emotion of fear. * 🔆 Can we control fear from a biological perspective?  * 🔆 Why some people love fear and the science behind why it can be enjoyable. * 🔆 Fear is like glue and the issues with fear based conditioning.  Fear is part instinct, part learned, part taught. The fear response has kept us alive. It is primal, and we should respect it. Expect more iterations on fear and how it manifests for us in later episodes.  Stay Tuned: Our next episode is really our WHY episode. Why this podcast was started, why our host dismantled and reset her life two years ago, and why it's changes everything. It's going to be an episode made up entirely of a personal journey, and one where you really get to meet your conversationalist, Arielle Links: National Library of Medicine : The Biology of Fear [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3595162/] National Library of Medicine : The Paradox of Pleasurable Fear [https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33339736/] National Library of Medicine : The Contextual Brain: Implications for Fear Conditioning, Extinction, and Psychopathology [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5072129/?xid=PS_smithsonian] The Atlantic : Why Do Some Brains Enjoy Fear? Monthly Mantra 1

Monthly Mantra 1 In my BIG life journey that got me to deciding to create this podcast, one of the things that helped me on uneasy days were handwritten mantras I had on my bathroom mirror. Repetitive words that brough me some calm and made me feel like the world was looking out for me. It morphed into writing down seven core sayings, and I repeat one in the morning each day of the week. Now, on top of that initial paper are post it notes with other beautiful words that line the side of my mirror and help me on day's start.  I've witnessed the incredible impact of positive affirmations in my own life and I thought to myself how some of these might be helpful to others. I can't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation to share a part of a deeply personal journey for me with all of you. At the start of each month, I am going to share a new mantra in a quick, short episode. In doing so, I hope we embark on a shared journey of self-discovery, self-improvement, and personal growth. It's a chance to reflect on experiences and to connect with others on a deeper level. We're in this thing called life together. And together, we can unlock the hidden potential of mantras to transform our lives and mindsets. - Arielle

Starting Messy

Episode 1: Starting Messy - The Power of Messy Action Welcome to our first episode ever! We are so excited you are here. In the inaugural episode of re.vival, your host Arielle Moyal takes you on the journey of the mess it took to start this podcast. Seriously; she put it off for over six months when perfectionism held her back. This episode celebrates the beauty of imperfection, the power of learning by doing, and the art of embracing chaos on the path to success. We are talking about Messy Action.  Episode Highlights: * 🔆 A quick intro on who we are and what we are about. * 🔆 What messy action means. * 🔆 Why you should start messy. * 🔆 What to expect from this podcast. Many valuable lessons are learned through practical experience. Starting messy means you're actively engaged in the process, which allows you to learn, adapt, and grow as you go along. The world is dynamic, and plans can quickly become outdated. Starting messy encourages adaptability because you're constantly adjusting and learning from your experiences. Don't let the fear of starting something stand in your way. Start doing shit badly, it may be the best decision you make. Stay Tuned: In our next episode, we get personal. It's The Intro, the one where we really explain why we are here talking for you to listen. We aren't qualified out of life's lessons and our personal perspectives, but we think we've lived lives you might like listening to. Subscribe now so you don't miss out!
