Acerca de Seeds & Bones

Seeds & Bones is a seasonal podcast on food systems, power, and belonging. We explore regenerative agriculture, food policy, seed sovereignty, climate education, animal ethics, and community resilience — connecting soil to plate and land to legislation. Because food is never just food. It’s memory, ritual, and inheritance. What would change if we chose as if our ancestors were listening — and our descendants already at the table?Hosted by Daphne Du Cros, PhD, Alexia Mellor, PhD, and Olivia Shave

Spring Equinox: Seeds, Systems & Rethinking Our Place in the Food System

Welcome to Seeds & Bones - a seasonal podcast exploring food, land, and belonging through the cycles of the year. In this first episode, recorded at the Spring Equinox, we begin at a threshold moment - when light and dark meet in balance, and the first seeds of the year are planted. This conversation brings together three perspectives - practice, policy, and participation - to explore the deeper questions shaping our food systems and our place within them. We speak about: * Reconnecting with land, food, and each other * Rethinking systems we’ve taken for granted * Rewilding, regeneration, and what these words really mean * Agency, voice, and becoming active participants in change * The role of storytelling, community, and small-scale action Rather than offering fixed answers, this episode opens space for reflection, curiosity, and new ways of seeing. A question to take with you: What are the tools you carry—and how might you use them? We’d love to hear your reflections and takeaways. Seeds and Bones Trailer

A seasonal podcast on food systems, regenerative agriculture, and belonging. Seeds & Bones is a seasonal podcast exploring food systems, land stewardship, and community resilience - and the lineages we carry in our bones. This is a show about the visible and invisible forces shaping how we farm, eat, teach, legislate, and care. About regenerative agriculture and seed sovereignty. About food policy and climate education. About animal ethics, local food systems, and the cultural stories that determine what ends up on our plates. Food is never just food. It is ritual and relationship. It is culture, memory, and power. It reveals who holds decision-making power — and how communities build resilience in times of change. Across the turning of the seasons, we bring together perspectives from sustainability strategy, food policy, community action, and holistic animal care to explore: * Regenerative farming and soil health * Civil food resilience and bioregional transformation * Education reform and climate literacy * Seed saving and food sovereignty * Ethical animal stewardship * Systems thinking for cultural change Together, we ask not only what is sustainable — but what endures. What would change if we lived as if our ancestors were listening? As if our descendants were already at the table? Our first episode airs March 21st — the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere — a threshold moment when light and dark stand in balance. If you care about food security, sustainability, climate resilience, regenerative agriculture, community-led change, and the future of our food systems, join us. Your seat is waiting. MEET THE VOICES AROUND THE TABLE Seeds & Bones brings together three practitioners working across food systems — from soil to policy to plate: Alexia Mellor is a holistic canine nutrition consultant, researcher, and Reiki Master exploring nourishment as an ecological and spiritual act. With a PhD in participatory art, design, and climate change, she integrates systems thinking, root-cause nutrition, and animal health into a broader conversation about land, culture, and conscious stewardship. Olivia Shave is a sustainability strategist, former educator, and heritage sheep farmer working at the intersection of agriculture, policy, and climate education. Founder of Soil.ED and Eco Ewe, she leads advocacy to embed food and farming into national curriculum while consulting on high-impact sustainability and food system reform. Daphne Du Cros is a food policy scholar and community resilience practitioner focused on building civil food resilience and strengthening local food systems. As Partnership Lead for the Shropshire Good Food Partnership and founder of Food Forward Bishop’s Castle, she supports councils, growers, and communities in developing actionable food strategies rooted in sovereignty and place. 🌿 Connect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/seedsandbonespodcast/ [https://www.instagram.com/seedsandbonespodcast/]
