Sustainability: The Value of Saving Our Future with Jamie Ross and Ana Ortega-Johnson

For this week’s episode, we are very excited to share with you the conversation we had with Professor Ross and Professor Ortega of Marist College regarding sustainability. More specifically these Marist Fashion professors explain how they are actively working towards raising awareness on sustainability and responsibility in and out of the fashion industry. Professor Ross came to Marist to be a panelist for SNR and quickly fell in love with the environment here so she decided that while she was still in the industry she would be teaching part-time which then shifted to her teaching full-time. Professor Ortega found her way to Marist many years ago and wanted a career in agriculture as she grew up loving the environment. However, she was missing fashion and Marist had an opportunity that she tried for and ended up getting, she has been teaching since 2016. Host Jianella Zegarra and Professor Ross and Ortega discuss what sustainability means to them, advice on how to live a sustainable life, how to support sustainable brands, innovative and impactful sustainable practices that companies are utilizing, and how to promote sustainability on a larger scale.
