#24 How to stop the intrusive thought parade

What if the scary thoughts in your head don't actually mean anything about you? If you've ever had a thought like... • What if I drive off the road? • What if something is seriously wrong with my body? • What if I gave my child the wrong medicine? • What if my relationship is over? ...this episode is for you. Today, I'm breaking down why intrusive thoughts happen through the lens of nervous system regulation—not just psychology. You'll learn why your thoughts change depending on your nervous system state, why reassurance never seems to last, and why trying to "think positive" usually keeps you stuck. We'll explore the connection between intrusive thoughts, anxiety, health anxiety, overthinking, OCD-like behaviors, perfectionism, and nervous system dysregulation so you can finally understand what's actually happening beneath the surface. By the end of this episode, you'll understand why you're not broken, why your brain isn't working against you, and what actually needs to change if you want intrusive thoughts to stop running your life. IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN: • Why intrusive thoughts are a nervous system issue, not a character flaw • The difference between normal worry and intrusive thoughts • How each nervous system state creates different thinking patterns • Why overwhelm produces some of the most intense intrusive thoughts • The surprising connection between anxiety, health anxiety, OCD-like behaviors, and survival mode • Why reassurance, Googling symptoms, and overthinking never solve the problem • The three-step framework I use to help women experience lasting freedom from intrusive thoughts instead of temporary relief MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE ✨ The Neuro Babe Club If you're tired of analyzing your thoughts, Googling symptoms, questioning yourself, your relationships, your business, or living in constant survival mode, The Neuro Babe Club is where we help you create lasting change. Inside, you'll learn how to regulate your nervous system, rewire the beliefs keeping you stuck, and become the version of you who no longer lives at the mercy of anxiety. #23 The Nervous System Truth About Depression

Have you ever wondered why depression can feel impossible to escape, even when life "looks fine" from the outside? In today's episode, Kerry challenges one of the most common beliefs about depression and introduces a different way of understanding what may actually be happening inside your body. Instead of viewing depression simply as a chemical imbalance, you'll learn how chronic stress, unresolved trauma, emotional suppression, and nervous system dysregulation can push your body into dorsal vagal shutdown the nervous system's deepest survival state. You'll discover why depression, hopelessness, emotional numbness, dissociation, and even the feeling of being trapped can make perfect sense through the lens of nervous system science. This episode is not anti-medication. Instead, it's about understanding why medication may help manage symptoms for some people while many still struggle because the underlying survival response has never been addressed. INSIDE THIS EPISODE: * Why depression may actually be a nervous system survival response * The difference between anxiety, fight-or-flight, and dorsal vagal shutdown * Why high-functioning people can still be living in chronic shutdown * How unresolved stress, trauma, and emotional suppression affect the nervous system * The connection between gut health, serotonin, and chronic survival mode * Why hopelessness, numbness, and dissociation often accompany shutdown * How healing the nervous system creates lasting emotional freedom * What becomes possible when your body no longer believes it's trapped If you've spent years wondering why you've tried everything yet still feel stuck, this episode may completely change how you understand your mind, body, and healing journey. ---------------------------------------- RESOURCES ✨ Ready to heal the root instead of managing symptoms? #22 How Your Nervous System Controls Your Money (And Why You Self-Sabotage Without Realizing It)

In this episode, Kerry covers how your nervous system controls your relationship with money. Your nervous system doesn't just run your anxiety, your thoughts, and your physical symptoms. It also decides how much money you're comfortable holding, the kind of relationships you allow yourself to have, and how big you let your life get. Kerry shares her own money story to walk through exactly how this plays out, from growing up with inconsistent finances and a family with wildly mixed money experiences, to a terrifying moment in college when a late tuition payment nearly got her pulled from her class roster. That history taught her nervous system that money was something to survive, not something to trust. She unpacks how that belief followed her into adulthood, including the two and a half years she spent stuck before finally leaving her nonprofit job to start her private practice, and what happened to her bank account once she actually started making more. Kerry explains why your nervous system will always choose familiar over better, even when better is objectively good for you. She calls it staying in the village. And she breaks down why anxiety isn't actually the root problem so many people think it is. It's the symptom. The real disease is often your nervous system's relationship to money. She also gets into the deeper layer for a lot of women: undercharging, giving services away, and shrinking what you ask for because some part of you doesn't believe you deserve more. Kerry explains what it actually takes to repattern those money habits and expand your nervous system's capacity to hold more, so you're not white-knuckling every time your bank account grows. ___________________________________________ ⚡️Have questions about the nervous system and money? #21 I Thought Less Anxious Was the Goal. I Was Wrong.

If you've ever caught yourself thinking, "I've been feeling a little better lately, so maybe I don't need to do anything about this" — this episode was made for you. Kerry is back with a quick solo episode (recorded right before sprinting off to watch the World Cup — no spoilers) and she's dropping something that might completely shift how you've been thinking about your own healing. Here's what she's seeing: most women who've been living in survival mode have had the bar set so low for so long that "a little less anxious" starts to feel like the finish line. Less on edge. Less obsessive. Less pain. Less, less, less. But less is not the goal. And Kerry wants you to sweep that bar out of your mind entirely and raise it times 30. In this episode, Kerry covers: * Why summer is one of the sneakiest seasons for keeping anxiety in place * The moment a Club client started feeling better and almost backed off everything she was doing — and what Kerry told her * What it actually means to exit survival mode (it's not symptom management) * Why you do not need to believe 100% that full healing is possible in order to start * A journaling prompt to help you get clear on your actual standard Because waking up without scanning your body for what's wrong, feeling genuinely excited to get out of bed, not carrying a running worry list before your feet hit the floor — that is not a fantasy. That is regulation. And that is what you're actually here for. This is your permission slip to stop abandoning yourself by accepting "a little better." ---------------------------------------- Ready to raise the bar? #20 Why You're Terrified of Your Own Body (And What It's Actually Going to Take to Heal)

If you are constantly scanning your body, monitoring every sensation, and quietly terrified of what might be going on inside you, this episode will be a game changer. Body hypervigilance is one of the most exhausting sides of anxiety. The constant background scanner. The 24/7 loop of: does something feel wrong, is this getting worse, can I trust my body? And here is the thing nobody is talking about: your thoughts burn through physical energy too. Your nervous system is working overtime before you have even gotten out of bed, which means a woman with this kind of hypervigilance is burning through 20 times more energy than someone without it. In this episode, Kerry gets personal about her own two-decade experience with body-focused anxiety, starting with a scoliosis diagnosis in middle school that planted the subconscious belief that her body was broken and in danger. She covers why hypervigilance around your body makes complete nervous system sense, why trying to fix, control, or crack the code of your physical symptoms is actually keeping you stuck, and the two-part approach that leads to permanent healing rather than another temporary fix. She also calls out what is all over social media right now: health content designed to make you scan for more problems. Every account telling you that your symptoms mean you have this condition or that thing. Kerry does not do that, and this episode explains why that kind of content is anxiety fuel disguised as wellness. From there, she breaks down what actually has to happen for your body to heal for good. The first part is getting your nervous system into ventral vagal, where cellular healing genuinely accelerates, not through one-size-fits-all hacks or box breathing, but by learning your unique nervous system patterns and what specifically your body responds to. The second part, which Kerry calls the bigger piece, is subconscious belief work. Because if your deep-down belief is that your body is broken, cannot heal, or cannot be trusted, no protocol is going to override that. You will keep collecting evidence that something is wrong, and your brain will keep treating every what-if like a certainty. Kerry shares the specific beliefs she carried for years including things like my body is the enemy, I was dealt a bad hand, and I will be in pain forever, and walks through exactly how those beliefs show up as thought loops, avoidance behaviors, and physical symptoms. Not because something is uniquely wrong with you, but because your subconscious is doing exactly what it was wired to do. She closes with her own healing story: gut issues, POTS, dizziness, fainting on the subway in New York, nutrient deficiencies, chronic inflammation, all of it gone without treating any of it directly. That is what becomes possible when you stop being at war with your body and actually change what you believe about it. ---------------------------------------- What We Cover Health anxiety and body hypervigilance. Why your nervous system learned to scan. How the pandemic and social media amplified body-focused fear. Ventral vagal and why it is where healing actually happens. Why somatic tools alone are not the whole picture. Subconscious beliefs and how they drive physical symptoms. Kerry's personal healing story. ---------------------------------------- Resources + Links The 7-Day Anxiety Reset Blueprint: leave a review wherever you listen, screenshot it, and DM Kerry on Instagram for free access.
